Winter NAMM 2011 rumour mill!

What the dilly with Malekko these days? IMO, the graphics are a total cop out. Not to be inflammatory, but do the Omicrons sound decent or is the small size/limited feature set some kind of gimmick?

I think the big thing with the Omicrons and the 616/919 is that they are contracted out and the simpler graphics etc reflect that.

As for sound, I've only tried the Chicklet (basic, good sounding reverb in a small box) the phaser (not a winner, at least on bass IMO) and the 616 which I think is a fantastic analog delay.

It certainly looks like that line of pedals is going to be a bigger and bigger part of their business. I just hope they continue to do new handmade designs as well.

Well some of the stuff I saw yesterday was mind blowing. The Eventide pedal were pretty impressive. Especially the Space pedal. Not sure I have much use for it as a bass player.

However, one thing that I found impressive was the Moog stuff. One feature that was new to me (perhaps not new to some of you FX heads) was the fact that you can now use the Moog Theramin Etherwave as a type of expression pedal for any of the Moogerfooger pedals. For instance, I have the MoogerFooger Low Pass Filter. You can hook up an expression pedal for 'cutoff,' 'envelope', 'resonance' and I believe 'mix'. You can now use the theramin to control up to three at a time, either on the same pedal or three different pedals.

Another thing that I found interesting with Moog was that their Murf pedals have now been combined into 1. It's called the MidiMurf. Not only does it have 24 different settings but you can assign midi content to these settings.

And last but not least from the world of Moog the Taurus 3. This thing is a monster. It's essentially a foot controlled synth that has assignable octave that you can step on to accompany your playing. It also has a foot controlled dial bender as well. BUT you can also use it a midi device or assign sounds using midi for live performance.

I have the omnicron chorus (12v) and reverb (9v).
NOT gimmicks. :rollno:

did anyone bother to read that the 919 has "Largest dynamic range possible from a BBD Delay using -15V BBD ICs".

Stop at think what that means. He developed an analog delay that is completely unique and probably required a completely original circuit.. rather than a knock off of someone else's delay design.

I for one, am glad he took his time with it and made something unique, feature laden, and what looks to be totally worthy of my money. :smug:

The Midi MuRF has been out for a while. I don't know about it; but the Bass MuRF is tap tempo capable with an external latching/momentary foot switch. I use the Boss FS-6 with mine,...one switch to set the rate/tempo and the other will step through each filter with each press.
