Fascinating. I don't even know where one begins with designing something like that.

Interesting mix of materials used for the build... the things actually triggering the marbles to hit the vibraphone were Lego pieces!

Very nice bass playing. I wonder if he has any other songs written for it.

Oh wow, I'm so glad you posted this. My kids and I watched the earlier construction videos and I didn't know it finished. Will watch it with them over the weekend.

Oh that is too awesome. It is like the steampunk equivalent of a Roland MC-303/505 Groovebox (or similar device.)

So my 7 year old son was describing this machine that plays music to me in the car ride home from school. His music teacher showed the class. My son described a machine with a xylophone, guitar, drums, and thousand of marbles - and it played music like a music box.

I had NO idea what my son was talking about - but now that I see this video, he described it VERY accurately! My mind just couldn't wrap around what it would look like from his description though.

He asked if we could make one. I told him I'd look in to it. Now I see this video, and my woodworking skills are limited to popsicle sticks and school glue, so uh, no. No I cannot build him one.

Sure you can. All you need is a fair amount of cash, a bucketful of Lego, 14 months, and 2000 marbles.

This is awesome and I've watched it a few times already, but they're ball bearings, not marbles. Still awesome though.

Great engineering and all, but to me it seems much easier get a human to play this on a synth. In the end I came away feeling like a lot of time and talent was wasted on this machine. After all, all we got was some cheesy electro-pop ditty with some dude bopping back and forth.
