Winter's custom basses

full_bleed said:
I think so as long as John doesn't have any problems with it. By the way have you heard from him lately?
On and off. He's due to come back in October, and said that he'll have a great deal of free time to build basses in.

SOUNDCLIPS:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

"Back to New York City"

Done in a local studio direct into the board with the Preamp off, P pickup soloed in parallel, and only some minor compression (no EQing!!) done to it.

"Scarab Soundclip"

Done direct into my cheesy soundcard (at the time, I have a superior one now) with dead strings the day I got it... I hadn't quite figured out the preamp at that point.

Hey AP. I just sent off my quote form for a custom. Looking at a kind of Bee bass meets Conklin meets singlecut body style. I don't know whether I should get the Winters EQ though... it can be bypassed though, right? If so, I'll see if we can't come up with a way to hide some of the knobs (concentric maybe?) and then have bypass on the preamp and passive tone.

He can set it up to be bypassed, and did mention something to me about being able to have a concentric EQ.

I requested a quote at like 2 this morning for the scroll #4 with walnut wings, walnut headstock overlay, 1 EMG 35DC in the bridge, and a kahler trem... its a little claypool inspired, but noone here will ever know... he emailed me back today and explained the situation with the navy and all that jazz, but if hes protecting our country, i can wait on the bass :)

He's excellent with customer service, I know I've bugged the hell out of him. He'll do his best to work something out with you... good luck!

Yes I can also vouch for his customer service. He can't always get back to you the next day do to his situation but he always returned my emails with about 4-5 days and I have sent him many of them for several different reasons. I can't wait untill he gets back and I can't finally make a decision on what exactly I want. I was planing on a JJ Helms custom, I probably still will but not untill a little later, but that eq circuit is just to interesting for me to pass up. I will add that JJ also has excellent customer service.
