If you don't move around a lot you don't need a wireless.
IMO
Maybe not need, but certainly very nice. For me I'm fairly clumsy and the freedom to not get cables tangled with guitarists, one less thing to trip up on, the chance to go out into the middle of the room and hear how the bass sounds are all things I enjoy.
Also there is an obvious safety advantage to not being wired into the system, I'm always very careful to check outlets and things as much as II can but not being wired int he first place makes life even safer.
As has been pointed out already, there x2 is not available in the uk. It is also not worth importing because I don't think it'd be legal to use in the uk, I think the 900 mhz band is licensed to mobile phone operators over here.
Personally I have the normal g30 and I think it is absolutely amazing, I don't hear any difference at all between it and my normal cables, there is none of that weird compression, frequency loss or anything like that, no delay, its great.
I know you are looking for a rack unit, maybe line6 will bring out a rask version of the g30 at some point I have no idea, i've not been keeping up with it. I would have preferred a rack unit myself but it is worth noting that the receiver is very small, its the size of a little stompbox pedal. The signal seems great, I can even tape the little unit inside my rack out of line of sight and the thing still works inside what is effectively a box!
