Wireless

Pick one of the new X2 wireless'. They were recently acquired by Line 6, but haven't heard any C.S. issues since.

I had both the stompbox and rack version and both were stellar.
er well the battery compartment on the transmitter end is terrible. I had the battery connector pull right out. My FOH guy was able to fix it but said it was a poor design. No solder just crimped.

The unit itself is very good but I'd personally go with another make if I could find one that was as good sound wise. CP

I used both of mine for over a year with zero issues on either end with pretty regular use.

But therein lies the rub, what else sounds as good! :p Esp for the price.

I've been using the X2 XDS Plus system for a couple months. Although the plastic housing of the transmitter initially concerned me, I'm now convinced it's not an issue. The unbelievable sound quality is AMAZING. Sounds like you're using a top quality cable. No dropouts. Excellent range. Not cheap, but worth the price if you want top-notch performance.

I use a Shure PGX14 system for playing both guitar and bass, and it works pretty well. Here's a couple of things that I have a bit of an issue with, thought it may not be a big deal for you:

-The belt pack seems to lose signal every once in a while. It's happened up to twice at gig before, and sometimes not at all. The randomness is what drives me crazy. Others have had this problem, and Shure has fixed their belt packs. I'd think that this would mean that they were aware of the problem, but I haven't heard if they are actually doing anything proactive about it.

-To the best of my knowledge, the cables for the belt pack are only available with straight plugs. This may be a small and rather silly thing, but I'd rather have right angle plugs to prevent Murphy's law (breaking the plug off on something at a high energy gig).

This system has worked well so far, these are just a couple of things that I didn't know at the time of purchase and the salesman neglected to tell me!

Hey, I don't want to start a new thread on this so I'll just bump it. I have an AKG GuitarBug wireless system and it sucks a big fat one, despite it's cuteness. I'm looking for something more like a professional would use--I've looked into the X2 but I'm still a bit doubtful, especially if it's only available with a plastic housing and a straight plug. I'm a rocker, I'm sliding across the stage and jumping off the drum riser and laying in people's laps who are a good distance from the stage (ideally--not with the GuitarBug). Would the rackmount X2 be the best way to go? I've heard Sennheiser makes the ultimate wireless, but their Website seems to only cover microphones.

so tell me how much does this x2 cost? (yeah i'm being lazy)

just asking. i really haven't heard a wireless for bass that i liked.

and FWIW, for whatever instrument, stay away from the cheap stuff, they all sound awful.
