Gentlemen: Can anyone out there give me a quick and basic lesson in how to download images from Photobucket onto this forum? I have a few pix of my JB already in a Photobucket album, but I am missing something apparently in my attempts to show them to all of you. Help?! Thanks ...

If you put your cursor on your image in photobucket you should get a drop down menu. Click on the direct link box, this copies the address to your clipboard. If you want you can also right click in this box and select copy. You can also click on the image to 'open it'. You will then get the share link box on the right of the image.

Now in your message type the following html code:
and then paste your link between the brackets in place of the x.

All being well you should then get your image in your post! Good luck!

Thunderitter; Thank you, kind sir! I will surely give that a whirl and see if I can finally start getting some decent pix on this forum. Your new Lobe, by the way, reminds me of my original Lobe which was maple and mahogany also, but yours has better looking maple. I sold that one to make room for the persimmon Lobe, but I miss it anyway. Can't wait to see what yours will turn out like! Cheers ...

Thunderitter; Yes, that's it! How did you do that?

This is the JB that the FB freaked out on. After I got it all finished (TruOil) I ended up sending it back to Wish and he planed the FB and put on a different bridge. It's home now and doing just fine. It's actually smoother than the Stude, I do believe. I have grown very fond of this one, and the quirky body shape; which by the way is very, very comfortable to play. This one has a TON of 'mmwahh' to it -dunno why.

Don't worry about using TB's attachment function!

Copy the image from photobucket, easiest way is to right click the picture and select 'copy image address' and then type
in your message box and copy your link (right click paste) between the brackets where the x is and you get what I got!

I have to say it again what a great piece of wood! I hope I can get #1010 close to that.......!

Thunderitter; What I don't know is on the TB end. Do I use the "Post Quick Reply" post option or "Go Advanced". If it is the later, then don't I have to use the image upload menu box? I tried doing a post by just doing what you said in the the body of the message, but ended up with a red 'x' where the image should have been. I must be dense ...

Gee, that's a strong compliment coming from the guy with the fantastic Fantasy. Thanx! You shouldn't have any trouble with the Lobe - maple is good and hard and will polish out like stone.

Here's the back, headstock and top side of the walnut JB. I think this is 1200 grit if I remember correctly. I kinda' wish I had waxed this one instead of TruOiling it. I may strip it one day and re-do it.

Thunderitter; I mentioned the wax finish thing because after I got this one done I started to wonder if a more "mat" or subdued look might not be the way to go for a wood as dark as walnut. Keep in mind I had the walnut Stude at the time and had just refinished it so I was debating about having two walnut basses that looked so much alike. (I never had intended to sell the Stude, you see.) Anyway, now that the Stude is gone I am not so sure about the wax thing, and I don't think just any wood looks good under it. (However, as I mentioned earlier, I got some burn-thru on the JB's finish when I tried wet-sanding it after about coat 3 of the TruOil. The result is several darkened spots that while subtle, are nonetheless visible and bother me - I can see myself re-doing it at some point down the line.

Speaking of the Stude, I was surprised how much I did not like the ergonomics of the Stude shape, once I was able to admit it to myself. I loved the look of it, but not how it hits your body when seated - it thrust the bass too far back to be comfortable for me. Hmmm, I've never had a Peanut, so hopefully one day - and hopefully that shape will sit well with me ...

JBYBJ: Yeah, it takes some patience for sure, but what I do when I start to want to cut corners is just quit for the night and come back to it later. By doing the work in shorter chunks of time and stopping before I am burned out has helped me get all the way out to 2000g. The area that is the hardest for me to stick with is the headstock! Cleaning those up (on the inside of the cutout) and smoothing out those edges is just a chore and requires me to take a lot of deep breaths! Also, now that I have more than one Wishbass it helps in not wanting to hurry, but still, it is a fight in some ways. Heck, the kool thing about these guitars is that you can always come back to one later and re-do it - why not?

have you ever thought on this one of doing more of a gloss? for some reason i think that with the darker woods it really highlights the grain

Ripper; These pix are in-progress shots. I did do the JB in a gloss - TruOil. It looks really great, but some day I am going to finish something of Wish's (possibly the JB) in a wax type finish to see what it feels and looks like. - just a thought ....

I plan to post the "after" pix soon (now that Thunderitter dialed me in!) so you all can see it.

Well I am predictable. I let the player get the better of me, and I have begun the refinishing. It didn't help that the electronics I ordered got here so quickly. I got the neck real smooth, everything down to 600 grit, though the inside of the scrolls still have some lines showing. I figure, if I make it as sweet as 49sfine does to his WB's, it almost doesn't qualify as a Wishbass any more;-) I will be sticking with one jazz pu, a Bartolini classic bass (deep tone) hum canceling passive, with a Tonestyler 16 position low pass filter, also passive. No room for battery in this scroll. I will be moving the output jack to the side, and adding a fixed bridge. The bridge is a barrel style that has 16mm string spacing, which is all this neck can handle.

James; You know, that is the beauty of the Wishbass experience - there is no "wrong" way to do one up! If you are happy with yours that's all that matters. By the way, that is one pretty Scroll, dude. The fact that you are getting yours out into musical service is way more than I can say about my stuff. The photos are really exicitng and thanks for sharing them. I would like to see a close-up of the bridge and new pup when you get those installed - can you make that happen for us? Onward towards next Sunday!

this is #305, made of striped mahogany (sapele) with plenty of little character marks (beetle holes, etc).

quite a nice beast - just waiting for someone to refinish it.

the only playing issue now is that if either vol is turned all the way down, it cuts the sound. i asked Wish about this and he confessed he probably swapped the leads on one of the pots. it's also got some crappy strings, and could use the standard WB tlc treatments.
