Well, that's the thing about Wishbasses, like them or not, they have among the best tops on some of their basses that you'll ever see, and that includes comparing these to some $3,000 + boutique brands. Granted, the shapes on some spoil the beautiful look of the wood (some Wishbass designs are quite fugly) but the wood itself on many is about as good as it gets, including this one (my favorite specifically due to the top wood). The stupid looking electronics cover does take a little away though. Those things should always be installed on the back as far as I'm concerned.

Yep. I've got the same beer-can cover as almost everyone else. Maybe I'll get motivated to make 'aftermarket' wood plates. Either that, or I'll have to complete the funky look with a chicken-head knob from StewMac: Invalid Link RemovedBassDudeSA said:

this one is a Lobe for only $300 (i just don't see how you can go wrong for that price if you're looking for a wishbass)

I noticed that the string holes seem centered and symmetrical on the front, but not on the back. I wonder if Wish has a drillpress or he drills the holes with a hand drill?

HaHa, yeah i've seen it. Not really my cup of tea either, but i'd play it. I have thought about getting other instruments from him however.

How well does Wish pack instruments for shipping? I'm a bit gun-shy this time of year about having anything fragile shipped to me...and I don't want to drop $100 on a case.

I wouldn't know from experience(still waiting on mine), but from what i hear he does a good job packing them, not to mention there built like a damn tank!Invalid Link Removed

A buddy of mine bought the curly-maple Lobe. Hopefully he'll stop by and let me try it out!

I've purchased many Wishbasses off of Ebay and they were all shipped direct the same way. A nice sturdy box filled with packing peanuts. All arived safely with no shipping problems. Also, as the Gubna said, the bass was not wrapped or protected from the peanuts. Thus, the stryrofoam dust gets in all the nooks and crannies of the bass (in/around pickup and inside natural wood blemishes). Also, possibly due to some hot summer months, some of the styrofoam has broken off and melted or became stuck to the wood/finish of the bass making it require a good cleaning. If Wishnevsky would just use a little more effort and wrap these in a plastic or foam bag (like all the other basses I have received through the mail) then this problem would be avoided. All in all, not a big deal considering what you get and the price you pay for it.
Your membership number in the WishBass club is on the back of your bass. I'm number 74... And I bet some of you guys with more than one may have even earlier serial numbers on yours.
