Beat, I'm unable to attach my wishbass pic.
got it about 4 years ago. it sounds great, the only problem is with the pup route and the bridge.
the E string wore a little into the bridge, due to that it now bottoms out on the pup. gonna go in with a dremell and make the pup route a little deeper.
Once I figure out ow to attache it, it will.

Butter, I have a better solution. Contact Steve W. and have him send you a new taller bridge. I'm sure he'll do it, just tell him what happened. Two of the Wishes I purchased had bridges that were so low it caused some buzzing against the neck. I e-mailed him and told him the problem, he sent me new taller bridges for both of them. I believe these come with a sort of unofficial lifetime guarantee. Just contact Wish and he'll fix ya' up.

I thought about that, but the action on my bass is perfect, it's just the pup that's the problem.
I haven't taken the pup out yet, do you know if he uses any padding under it?

No he doesn't. As a matter of fact I had Mike Lull install 1/4 pounders on two of them (one of which The Gubna bought) and he mentioned that the Wishbass pickups were very crudely installed. I mean they are fine, but you can't adjust them in any way and they are stuck in very tight. But if you go to a pro you may have some luck. Lull did a great job on mine, but then again, he's Mike Lull.

New 5 String Wishbass on ebay today. This one's a beauty. I'd pick it up if I had the cash.

Ya' know, I really like the wood on that one, and the fact that it is a 5-string is a plus, but I really don't care for the shape. It looks totally lopsided and that "hook" is hideous. It's still probably a great bass though, but with Wish, they are hit and miss in the looks department.

yeah, I see where you are coming from on that. Emailed wish yesterday about a custom job, and he says he has more of that wood ready. I may have him do a 5 string...

Okay, I'm thinking of ordering a custom wishbass, should I let Steve finish it, or have him ship it with no finish - and do it myself with Tung Oil?

From what i gather, if you let him finish it, you probably won't like it and just end up sanding and finishing it yourself.

But i think for a bit more cash he will finish it better than he usually does. I ordered one in "white" last month.....gettin alittle anxious:hyper: (yes, for a wish), haven't heard anything from him yet on the progress. He quoted me two months, so i'm halfway there. I went back and forth on what i wanted, i finally decided on the stude,

body: padouk
neck: maple, purple heart, cherry, walnut, cherry, purple heart, maple(some combonation like that)
lined fretless
ipe finger board
kent armstrong soap bar

Yeah, I hear you, I have a couple other wishbasses, and they aren't finished too good, but hey, for the price, what do I expect? well, I think I'll have him finish it, and if I care to, later, much later, I'll refinish it. This is what I requested:

The body will be a combination of peanut and lobe (I actually photoshopped elements of two together to send to him to work off of).
5 strings Fretless
Ambrosia top
Purpleheart fingerboard
Walnut Purpleheart and Maple body and neck
Volume and Tone Controls
jackplate on the back
Kent Armstrong Soapbar Pickup
Spray Laquer finish

When I contacted Wish recently about building a custom, he said he didn't have any more of the Burl Maple (like the top on this one) - and wouldn't for about a year. It's really nice, so I might wait and have him do another next year....
how about a 6string with active pickups and a rosewood fingerboard with fretlines in the Lobe style (like this one)

Sounds nice! I like the idea of a peanut lobe. I saw your pointy peanut in the other thread, i'm diggin that one too.

Iv never played a wish before, and i took a leap of faith when i ordered it......i don't really care about the flaws that i usually here people gripe about. It seemed like a good deal. How do your wish's play? I hear they have an excellent tone.

Well the Pointed Peanut I have, I got from someone on here, BassDude - he like's the Scarabs. He had a Seymour Duncan Basslines pickup put in - quarterpounder, I think. It sounds good, but that thing is a monster! It's like having some branches of a tree in your arms! I like the Lobe one better - as far as the feel. I think both pick ups (the SD and the one that Wish put on - an EMG select) are both fine for what I'm using it for right now - since I am not playing in a band. I think if I was using it for recording or anything, I'd outfit the Lobe with another pick up - depending on my cashflow. An active set up would be great, but would require some routing for the battery cavity.

The other thing I would say about the Lobe Vs. Peanut is that the Peanut feels much more like a bass to play funk/slap on (if you could actually do that with a wishbass), than the Lobe. The Lobe feels more like a Jazz bass.

This thread is called "Wishbass Club" but i have yet to see anyone sportn' "Wishbass Club Member #...." in there sig. Whats up with that?

so does someone have to qualify that? Do we have to have BassDudeSA list everyone's club member number?

Or could we just be known as Wishbass Club Member Number X?

As far as I am concerned, as long as you have a Wishbass, then you are in the Wishbass Club (like it or not, you are a "Wishy" :bassist: ).

Yeah, as The Gubna stated, I am all for Scarabs. As a matter of fact, I have bought 11 Wishbasses in total, five of which are Scarabs, each time I bought a Scarab I forced myself to sell one of my non-Scarabs, and since I just bought another (below), I have to sell my last non-Scarab (a Swirl). This new one is my second favorite, the look, sound and feel is just outstanding. I have still yet to custom order one though, but when I do it will be a five string fretted, (Scarab, of course).
