if fretted,how many frets would the Wishbass JB have...i imagine a lot.

I would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 frets, but I don't think I'd have him do it past 24.

Someone on here had him Fret it up to 12 and then it was fretless beyond that. I kinda like that idea.

If the bass has a "three octave" fingerboard (as some do) that would give you 36 frets. The highest frets would be rather close together, that's for sure!

At some point, the width of the fret wire would limit how far up you could install frets...

I found an old cream colored Dimarzio model J to throw in one of my wishbasses... if it will fit.

Still waiting to hear back from Wish on the wood control plates.

I've got a machinist friend who has access to a water-jet cutter. I may have him cut me a plate out of brass or something in his Copious Spare Time.

No, I did see one on eBay. Personally, I'd be more afraid of a Wish guitar than a Wish bass. I'm much more particular about guitar set up than bass set up, especially intonation.

Might be interesting though...

Dude I argued with him for like 20 minutes solid on the phone...I told him to use a different wood as a backer instead of the aluminum if he would rather...his mind was made up...but like I said he will replace them if I am unhappy. They should be here Monday. Let me mount them, snap some pics and post here and let you know how it works before you order.

So, did you get yours? He says he's shipping my wood control covers today. Just wondering what was the outcome...

Hey Gubna,

Got my control plates...They don't take a finish very well and one of the veneers cracked. I hope yours held up and hold up better.

But I did get some bridges made out of Ipe and they sound friggin awesome. The tone really rounded out nicely with the wood. Truly an unexpected treat.

Haven't seen them yet, but I'm looking forward to seeing them.

On the bridges, did you request those, or did he just send them? That would be cool! I thought that a wood bridge might be a heck of a lot nicer than those white or grey corian ones.

Well on the bridges he screwed up and sent me 4...2 for a 4 string and 2 for my 5 string, so if you need/want let me know. He charged me $25 for the bridges and the plates. You just have to shave the bridges a bit as they are quite tall.

funny, he charged me $25 for two control plates... when I get them in a few days, I'll let ya know.

I received the control covers today and well, I'll have to get them on my basses to see how they look.
