any tips on quieting down the electronics?

Are you getting a lot of hum from your pickup? If so, you can try using copper shielding tape to line the control cavity (www.stewmac.com carries it). That may help. I find "hum" problems are usually associated with proximity to the amp and other electrical gadgets
(computers, lights, etc.) nearby. Also, does your amp or preamp have a ground lift switch? You might try that. Unfortunately, a single EMG Select or Kent Armstrong Soapbar pickup (both single coil design) will produce some hum, but you should be able to reduce it to an acceptable level.

thankyou Moravian, i'll try the tape, and let ya know. if i turn down the treble all the way on the amp, it's ok. just thinking of using it live and wanted to quiet it a little. has anyone used it playin out, and how did it go? did i say i love this thing yet? hehee, it's just so much fun to play!

I have 3 Wishnevsky basses. The last one I ordered had a lot of hum to it. As it turned out the ground was switched with the hot lead. I re-soldered it and there was no hum.... perfectly quiet.

Recently I subbed in a big band for the DB player. I used the fretless Wishbass and the band members loved the sound.

At least that's repairable (with a new bridge). I've seen some Wishes on eBay (the recent 6 stringer) where the outer two strings are essentially outside the magnetic envelope of the 5 string pickup that Wish used. I suppose it would work, but the string balance was probably way off...

It's not. It's probably just the camera angle. There's 2.5 mm from the top edge of the B string to the edge of the fingerboard. It plays well and sounds very good.

I can't agree, but I respect your opinion. Tone is very subjective, especially listening to a YouTube video.

i have had a 4 string hyper for about 5 er 6 months and i love it its number is 732 it is a hyper with a ambriosia top cedar middle and walnut back the neck is wenge/maple/blackwalnut/maple/wenge the picture is what wishbass sent me when it was complete it looks alot nicer now i sanded is and coated it with 12 coats of nitrocelluloce spray laquer. also took off the ugly aluminum plate off and put on a new one with a venneer on it

i can see myself geting alot more wishbasses i am ordering a 5 string soon

I had a wishbass--it was a piece of ****--It was suppose to be a 5 string Scroll with birdeye finger board. The old fard took 5 months to get it to me, it arrived the neck had a crack, the finger board had huge nails for dots and it never stayed in tune. I finally got the old fard to take it back for repairs--but get this, instead of repairing it he sent it back to me and in an e-mail saying you get what you pay for--it was a low end bass. I told the old--fker that I was paying for his name and quality--which I got neither--PLEASE STOP SUPPORTING THIS GUY---and HE SHOULD STOP WRITING HIS OWN REVIEW---HE SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM BASS MAG.

I didn't read or look at the hole thread so pardon me if this has been covered already...............

I have never owned one, but it is pretty clear that these basses are not musical instruments first!! It is a bunch of cool wood chunks glued together and cut up in funny shapes(with a hack saw or saws all) to resemble a bass. Then it is sanded down and finished with whatever is available at the local hardware store. Come on guys, these are not really basses, but an exercise in primitive woodworking!!

Most of them look like shop class gone awry, and then sanded down and finished just so you don't have to throw out all that nice wood and start over

you got that right, Moravian. if the people who complain read his web page, or even did a little research, and understood what they were buying, then mabe they would not be so down on them. i love mine, and it is the most fun bass i've ever played. that is not an endorsment, and i've never met the guy, just love my bass.

My 2 big complaints about my Wish #128

1 - he made the body too small (can't fix that)
2 - he didn't make the pup route deep enough, anything above the 5th fret and the E string bottoms out on the pup. (I have to deepen the pup route with a dremell)
