Pre-Covid, no. During COVID, there was always a bass within arms reach. Now I'm a "hybrid" worker, home Monday and Friday, and in the office Tuesday-Thursday. I recently picked up an Epi EB-0 for nothing (it was gifted to me). Of course, I've modded it beyond the initial value, but HipShot SuperTone and Mini-Clover ultralights suit it nicely. ;)

It sits in the corner and calls to me. Just today, I picked it up and put a Karaoke version of Sultans of Swing on YouTube, and Jammed away (I'm expecting that to be on our setlist in our Friday dad-band basement jam!) It was an awesome shot of energy and clarity that pushed me through the afternoon.

I'm going to force myself to pick it up more often. I have a PJB NanoBass X4 that is perfect for office use.

We have a communal Yamaha C40 classical guitar in our office which is great for an excuse to get away from the desk and strum a few chords. I work with another bass player and we frequently discuss an office bass...I think it's time!

If I was to ever get to a point, after almost 30 years of doing the same kind of work, that I had my own office, with a DOOR with a lock, I would definitely have a bass.

However, the last time I applied for a management position, I was literally told by upper management, "We can't afford to promote you because we know the productivity would decrease no matter who took your place." :sour:

Right now, my roll is hybrid; I am in the office 3 days a week, but I used a "hot desk" or bookable office when I am there. One rule is that nothing personal can be left behind...the office needs to be the same state for all users since it is shared.

When I get an actual office again, it would be awesome to have a p-bass on the wall for random inspiration and mind clearing. Also a great conversation piece.

A cheap P bass is as good of a work bass as an A-C or Bacchus.

An office bass for downtime at a day job is something else. 95% decoration, 5% fidget stick.

I had a downtime fidget bass at a cabinet shop I worked at decades ago. We often had enough downtime that the guys would get unreasonably intoxicated and nap for 6/8 hours for a few days straight.

I saw a thread about someone wanting a work bass. It gave me GAS as my role can be EXTREMELY cyclical.

Who all has a bass they keep at their work to use during the day?
I used to... when I had an actual job. But, I gave that nonsense up a little over 3 years ago (the "job" thing - not the bass), when I decided I'd worked enough - and retired. My shift as a bank vault guard was supposed to be from 1pm to 10pm - assuming they balanced the books, and I could close up. But, the armored trucks stopped delivering at 5pm, so... I was pretty much just there, "guarding" all that money until I closed the place, set the alarms, and went home. As long as I wasn't asleep? Nobody much cared how I kept myself amused in the guard station...
