Worlds Fattest Bassist

You must be one naturally skinny dude. I'm 5'11" and the last time I was down at a wee 195, I was pretty skinny. Even just after high school when I was skinny and just reached my adult height, I still weighed 185 then...

I don't know about skinny...I'm 5'9'' and around 190lb last time I checked (probably gained a few over the past couple weeks) and I can assure you I'm not skinny. I don't seem it when I'm out and about but otherwise I could definitely lose some extra skin.

For some reason all I could think of is that cigarette being the "proverbial" cherry on top of a 6,000 calorie sundae. :hiding:

it seems the guy from Carpathian Forest is in the running. and there isn't enough swimwear in black metal

EDIT image removed. i'll try and find a better one

DOUBLE EDIT i'm not sure this is 'better' in the positive sense of the word, but still

Need to shed at LEAST 25....

Honestly a lot of people overcomplicate things. Just keep a rough track of how many calories you eat per meal, per day. You can calculate your threshold to maintain your current weight here:

Hey thanks for the calorie counter. This may well help me. 5'8" 260lbs. Most of it is hanging out in the gut and chest. I have a goal to do some wear and tear to my basses because of belt buckle rash, but I have to get the gut down first. ;)

This is a little off topic, but I think it's important since we're talking about health. The easiest way to lose weight involves one simple phrase: "Burn more calories than you eat." You do this with proper diet and exercise.

Now cut down a little bit when you eat. Don't overdo it. Even cutting 100-200 calories helps a lot. There's a surprising amount of foods out there that have tons of calories yet do nothing to make you full, such as many desserts.

If you don't exercise, then find the time to add in light to moderate exercise. It doesn't have to be crazy, especially if you hardly ever exercise. Walking has helped many people. You can increase the intensity of your exercise plan once you get used to it. If you overdo it, then it becomes discouraging if you exhaust yourself.

If you are significantly overweight then you will lose weight much faster than a person who is only 10 pounds over, for example.

I am by no means a nutritionist, but I've done quite a bit of reading and have experience losing weight. Doing training for triathlons I've had to be a little more cautious of what I eat and it's made a big difference. Before I was exercising with high intensity but still eating a lot of crap because I believed it didn't matter with the level of intense exercise I do. Surprise, I wasn't losing weight. Once I started calorie counting I began to lose weight. I was 183 at 5' 8" at the beginning of this year, the most I ever weighed in my life. Now I'm about 167 and looking to be just under 160 by the end of the year. It's harder for someone like me to lose weight since I'm roughly around what I'm supposed to weigh. A friend of mine lost a lot more weight quicker since he was in the overweight category.

Anyway, to stay on topic, I always tend to think of fat bass player stereotype, but in a lot of music I listen to, especially punk, the fattest guy almost never seems to be the bass player. In r&b I tend to notice bigger bass players. I've always been roughly around the same weight as other people in bands I've been in. Never been the fattest.

Agree 100% Internal,

When I decided to get healthy, I thought if I tried one of those fad diets as soon as I was off it the weight would just pile back on, and possibly double what I had lost. So I learned how to eat first. I read anything that I could get my hands on, or research on the net. I coupled this with long walks, which turned into running, which turned me into a complete health/workout nut. It has become a lifestyle. January 7, 2011 will make 2 years.

Thats Awesome LMFAO. Luv the laundry hanging around on the stands :D

That is actually the drummers underwear collection. He must have close to 20 bras and 5 pairs of panties hanging on the drum rack. He started collecting them a couple of years ago, and it's always a good time when he gets another donation!

I used to be in the running...

I'm 6'5" and at my peak weight last February weighed 423.8 lbs... I'm now "down" to 352, completed a 4 mile run/walk in September and am training for and signed up for a sprint distance triathlon this coming June (what was I thinking...!?!?!?!?!?)

Lifestyle change, big lifestyle change. I still slip up, but basically I cut out all the crap I was eating, started to exercise and got my crap together. I was a pretty good athlete in high school and would have played college basketball if I hadn't blown out both of my knees within 6 months of each other my Freshman year of college.

Here's a picture of me crossing the finish line in September.
