Worlds First Drum Machine in Pedal Form!

I thought the idea was to separate real experience of the pedal from speculation ... in which case the fact it was a promotional item doesn't really matter ?

Agreed. I understand ArtechnikA's point, but I would still hope it's an actual production unit. And even if it's one that's been tested beyond the standard testing, one would presume it's still a production unit and not a prototype...

It was a production unit.

Found this the other day. They need to be imported to some sort of DAW (and then the drum track exported) if you want to use them, but just about all of these have drumtracks that certainly aren't steller, but IMO decent enough for an acoustic bar gig. Absolutely good enough for practicing with oneself. There's a pretty extensive library of tunes also. Use the search function.

Thanks Joe!

When I was fooling around with midi tracks about 13 years ago, most of the stuff online was pretty bad. I will have to start looking into the current tracks to see if things have improved.

I might pass out waiting for my tracking number. :D Not good since I have to teach two classes today.

Say his name 2 more times...LOL

Now at the expense of being called "persistent",an idiot that has never accomplished anything "big", or even worse "homie", any chance we can have have an update on the software? I know there are people excited to be getting a high priced rhythm machine. But i want to get in to the live performance functions that hopefully will set this apart from regular drum machines and tracks.

We're all homies here on TB! But I'm not the man for that update bradda. I'm still stuck in the cheering section. :-)

soon... soon...

Honestly we don't know. We thought it would be done by now. But there have been some bugs that haven't gotten worked out yet. Could be any day. Could be another couple of weeks. It's kind of difficult to predict when your software guys will solve the puzzle they've been working at. But don't worry... we'll get there ;)

David you're to 'soft' for your software guys. Please, put them on a diet of pizza, caffeine and whiplashes until the software is finished.
I know you're kidding.
But I've been on my share of crunch-mode death-march projects.
Every once in a while, you come across some manager who thinks the way to put an end to the 16-hr days is "one good 48-hr straight-through coding marathon!" When you're that tired and everything becomes a blur of sameness, you're often putting bugs in faster than you're taking them out, Judgment fails. Accidents happen - you hear questions like "can I get back that file I just deleted or is it really gone?" Statements like "I fixed it so good it quit working entirely."

Knowing when the team needs a little extra drive and when they really just need rest is an art known to too few managers. It's a rare guy who can say to a team in the face of an imposing and ridiculous deadline "go get some rest, we'll hit this later when you can think."

I'm chasing ('chasing' is the wrong word - it is a horrible slog through mire) an intermittent, irreproduceable defect in someone else's cr&ppy code that occasionally prints a form to the wrong tray. And although I work in a Protected Medical Information world, the form in question doesn't even contain any PMI. But if someone were injured because they didn't read the medication instructions (the ones that come on those pages most people just throw away...) It Would Be Bad. I've been on the trail of whatever this bug is for two weeks so far, and I expect when it is _finally_ found and squashed it will be the result of some bad decision on the part of a programmer who didn't take the 10 seconds it would have taken to think it through and get it right.

So, this isn't necessarily directed at David (though I welcome his answer)...but did ANYONE in the US get tracking numbers yesterday?

Well obviously since I asked the question, I didn't either. And as I said earlier, I was one of the first.

As a programmer, I want to add, software is tough. Good software can take years to produce, and often requires a team of project leaders with a deep understanding of Agile and the technology they're building, as well as talented engineers. They're also expensive employees, with a highly sought after and specialized skillset. On top of that, when managers think outsourcing might save time and money, those outsourced projects tend to fail and fail hard after significant investment.

I understand the complexities of software development. And have no problem with the software being delayed; the delay is worth getting (nearly) bug free software.

What my huge concern is (and I knew this buying into the product), is that Mac users don't get forgotten about. I've seen multiple companies promise the world to Mac users then deliver next to nothing. I really hope that doesn't happen here.
