Worship Bass Pedalboards

IMG_1060.JPG I play at a large church in Colorado where we usually do one secular song a week. Everything from Justin Timberlake to the Foo Fighters. Hence all this stuff.

I've got a VM P5 and Fender P V which I use. My issue with getting this tone is getting both the top end and the bottom end.... at the same time....

That's where the pick comes in (for the top end). I don't hardly ever use a pick, and am not real comfortable using one, but this song demands it ...

Oh man, another reason for me to have GAS for the VMT. Not sure how much longer I can resist

IMHO - DON'T resist! I love mine - especially since I have the older version with the "ERA" knob (sort of replicates a vintage tone control on a bass). Darkglass makes GREAT gear - I have the VMTD, Super Symmetry Compressor and the M900 head.

My current board is in flux but is currently = Turbo Tuner, Volume pedal, VMTD, Supersymmetry, Eventide H9 (I will be wiring in a Tech 21 MIDI Moose), Red Witch Factotum and 3Leaf Wonderlove with a Mission expression pedal. The H9 is nothing short of amazing and I may well be getting rid of the Factotum for the patches on the H9.

I'm a driver geek and own quite a few and my favorite one is the VMT. You won't regret it and it would do that tone very well. So would a VT Bass. And a pick on fresh strings, even nickels but yes SS would be brightest. Compression would be good to have. So basically I'm super glad I thought of all these ideas! JK agreed on all the above suggestions.

For me this is a pure pick song (Jim Dunlop Tortex 1mm is my personal preference). I can get close to it using my Sansamp VTDI so I'd agree that it's a lot in the playing style and driver/preamp. My VTDI is in B15 mode but with a bit more punch. I never quite nail it but I am running flats on my Wals so the clang is never really there. If I do it on my Aria SB which has SS rounds it's much closer.

Two channels!

One "beefy" channel from your amp and one bright from your bass. Trust me. It NAILS that tone.
I've played this song a lot but never been able to quite capture that exact tone. I remember reading a post from @two fingers that he had figured this one out. Maybe he can help?

This is on our list for tomorrow. I'm playing on a Squier VMP5, with a felt pick, all on the B string (only), for this tune. Using the Markbass Compressore, and Darkglass Vintage Microtubes for some light overdrive ...

Hello fellow Worshipers,

I know this Question is already been asked before. What is your suggested Pedal chain with my existing pedals:).. Still sorting what order will it be:(

Please don't take this the wrong way, but you have a lot of really nice stuff for someone that doesn't know what to do with it.

Do you know how, why & when you are using each effect? I've found the most effective boards start by buying one pedal at a time and slowly adding as the need arises and figuring out with each addition where the best fit in the chain would be. What pedal are you using the most? It might be best to start there, with the one or two most used pedals, and then over several days add one or two pedals at a time to determine exactly how you would like to stack things.

The PT Mondo seems a bit redundant since everything could be easily powered by the Noble.

Thanks for the reply:), Last Sunday i used a Aggie Tonehmmer,Aggie Tlc and Octamizer.. Shown on my pedal are my Main.. Noble just came today.. and other i acquired 2017.. I'm chaining a Synth+Clean tone (with Light OD).. So perhaps Synth pedals will go first to Ls-2 loop1 ,loop2 will be a Filter+OD and bypass will Microtube,EQ,Cali,Noble..

With the Mondo:) i might be getting H9 or Strymon in the future for Ambient..

Looks like you've got some duplicates there between the Bass Soul Food, the Tonehammer and the Noble Pre, also dups with the TLC and the Cali76. Also kind of dups are the OC-2 and the Meatbox. It might be interesting pushing the Noble with the Tonehammer, VMT, or the Bass Soul Food, just for grins. Also, you have alot of EQ there with the SA and the HPF/LPF on the Noble. Maybe run the OC-2 or Meatbox before the compressor? I would definitely run the Noble at the end of the OC-2 or Meatbox with the HPF on, or using the SA EQ after those to tame the low end. I would expect the Manta would be next to last, but I could be wrong.
