I think I just toasted my VMT.

The Compressore was fading in and out of a distorted signal, so I bypassed pedals until I determined it was the Compressore.

Seems the Ojai R30 doesn't have enough juice to power the MB pedals, so I was changing the power cabling from the R30 to the MB pedals to use the wall wart. I should have taken the time to unplug / turn off all power first. I think I plugged the MB wall-wart into the current doubler adapter which was still plugged into the Ojai 12V feeds, and there was a loud pop.

Everything still works except the VMT. No light, no workie.

The Compressore is my favorite and always on, with the VMT a close second and always on.

Also got a Submarine preamp clone, the Ictineo. It embellished the harmonic content of a driver if you run it after.

I'm sure the congregation will notice the difference right away!! :woot:

You will notice the difference with your Alclairs for sure!

Bummer. Doug (username Darkglass) is pretty good about customer service, even when it's the customer's fault. Fire him a PM/post in the DG thread/send an e-mail to the company.

The Ictineo had caught my attention too. Looks like an interesting pre. I'm a Fender tone type of guy, had a Bassman way back when. Can the Ictineo model a Bassman fairly closely? Clips I've heard sounded pretty good

Are you basically playing higher up and letting the octave pedal generate the low bass note? That's what it looks like in the video at least. What's the difference between doing that and just playing the actual low note? Do you find that the octave pedal gives the notes a certain character or tone that you like compared to just playing the note?

Thanks for the kind words! As for the octave I use it in a few ways. Sometimes it's my cheating method to pull off a 5 string if I'm playing a 4 but really want that low b (or a...) in certain songs I'll use it to cover synth tones of add some texture to the sound. Last, at some campuses we run really small bands (small by a our standards at least) with an acoustic, single electric, keys, drums and bass. In that case I'll use a lower setting with a lot of clean blend to just thicken things up. In that clip I posted its mostly chasing a 5 string in parts.

No, if you try it let me know. I've always thought of the Noble as my last link, not as 'another' preamp.
All my basses, except my '59 P, have onboard preamps. So, leading up to the Noble's DI stage, I have a minimum of 3 preamp possibilities. The question for me is, is the DI as good? Jensen?

I PM'd the DSM guy awhile ago, regarding the DI. He replied that it's a "high quality" DI that will block any 48v phantom power concerns I had. An interesting a/b test (which I haven't done) would be...

Could you be please do this? At all our venues, FOH wants us to 1/4" into the JDI>FOH. So, it would be nice to know how well it works both ways.
