Worship Bass Pedalboards

Just found this thread and thought I would post my board.

Its fantastic on lower settings. It works very well with active instruments, but you may want to boost into it if you play a passive. I have the gain turned up on my compressor to drive the DOD a bit when using my passive P. Its very transparent and natural sounding if you keep the gain under 10:00. Its literally the same circuit as the Klon Centaur, just without the buffer and tone knob. It gets you a Klon like mild overdrive if you keep the knobs low, but the tone is directly related to the gain. It gets very trebbly as you turn up the gain, so its pretty bad for bass if you want to crank it past noon.

Its literally indistinguishable from my bass soul food around 8:30, but it has a whole lot more on tap before getting too tinny.

Ok, well, that is good to know. I play guitar as well, so might be a good double duty pedal... Right now for my overdrive I'm using the Boneshaker pedal by DOD/Digitech/Harmon b/c it has the 3 band parametric EQ that lets you really focus in on what frequencies to emphasize. Works well for bass b/c of that, and if you keep the gain low just adds a little bit of grit to the signal... really all I need grit wise for worship, and rarely use it.

The 250 will be perfect for just some added grit. It's fantastic on the guitar as well, Malmsteen used one pretty extensively, just listen to his stuff to get an idea for the sound.

I will note, they got a really bad rap with the 2nd generation pedals. They swapped the chip and changed the sound for the worse. It really tainted the 250 name and they are not very popular now due to this. Fortunately this means you can regularly find them used in the $35 range. The 3rd generation reissue, the dark gold ones like mine use the original chip again and sound as good as they did in the 70's. There are also many boutique options for this pedal, SolidGold, Earthquaker, greer etc. all make a version of this pedal. I was seriously GASing over the Earthquaker Grey Channel for a while, but settled on just the 250... I can get bogged down if I have too many knobs (Looking at you swollen pickle), so I thought I would keep my OD simple.

cool deal.

I'll probably end up getting on eventually. Kinda like the MOSFET distortion pedal they have out as well... I've seen both for under $50 each in different places, so that is a good plus. So far the DOD pedals that I have (boneshaker and Gonkulator ringmod) seem like pretty solid, good sounding options....

When just jamming around, it can be a pain if you are trying to do anything live on the fly, you have to fiddle with the knob to get the tempo just right. But in a worship band setting it works really well. We play over tracks and all the tempos are set in stone. This lets me dial in the pedal specifically by song ahead of time so I can just do it on the fly when needed. Yes, a tap tempo would be well appreciated and would help when jamming around, but I dont really miss it in real world applications... I honestly cant complain though, its 2 fantastic pedals in one package for $130ish.

The reverb is enough of a reason to buy one. Its the most realistic sounding digital spring reverb I have ever heard, the delay is good but could be better. If I had the cash at the time, I would have sprung for an earthquaker avalanche, I think I would have been more satisfied with that.

Well, I finally broke down and ponied up the money to pre-order an Omnicabsim Deluxe. I can't take it anymore. There's no point in continuing the disappointing process of trying other, less-expensive options in search of a tone I believe only this pedal can provide. After everything I've seen/heard/read online about this beautiful little box, I fully expect it to be the solution to my years-long search for a good dirt sound direct to the board without an amp. Fingers crossed.

In the immortal words of Tom Petty, "The waiting is the hardest part."

I'm in the same boat. Ordered mine 3/16. Maybe mid April?

Unfortunately my work rotates shifts every 3 months, and I'm going on a shift that won't allow me to attend rehearsal, so I'll be out of the rotation for awhile. On the bright side, while my shift did work for rehearsal/service, I was playing every other weekend!
