Happy Easter everyone. Hope that your services went with a spirit of celebrations worthy of Resurrection Sunday. I was privileged to be playing this morning and it was fantastic. We kicked off with Alive Forever Amen and Happy Day. I decided to add a touch of OD for HD - I'm not a fuzz or distortion fan so it was just a smidge to roughen up the edges. The Bass Soul Food sounded so good especially given the energy we were putting into the tunes, even though the band was just drums, bass, keys and acoustic guitar.
The out song was Alive (by Hillsong Y&F) - a good excuse to use the pedal board to god effect. Kicked on the OD, Wah and Tremelo to give a synth bass feel to the EDM-style repeating bassline - doubling the keys left hand C#m-E/G#-A-A-C#m-B all the way through. Sounded great, especially that thing of opening and closing the Wah slowly on the Pre-Chorus to mimic that slow sweeping filter effect that the youngsters seem to like on their beats (lol - fuddy duddy speak!). Sounded great. We expected that to be it but the Pastor stayed up on stage and gave an extra blessing/exhortation then said " And now the worship team are going to send us off with something lively..." The WL looked at us, mouthed "Happy Day?" and shrugged. Click went the Bass Soul Food and we ripped back into a cut down version while the church bounced along. Wonderful, wonderful service!

Love those PJs Fender has put out. If I could justify the cost I'd be all over one. The only bass that's every made me want something that's Seafoam Green.
So I'm a little late to the party, primarily because I didn't have an Easter gig until I received a call late Friday afternoon. I play a "Celebrate Recovery" service on Friday nights at a local church, and the usual bassist for Sunday contemporary service bailed on the Easter service Thursday afternoon due to a family emergency. I was fortunate enough to be recommended to fill in and it went very well. Very blessed to be called upon to help out.

Made a little $ for being a last minute sub on this gig for such an important date, so with that I have a Pedaltrain Novo 18 on order now.

The color was a selling point for sure. Little flashier than my American special in honey burst.

It's killer. Being able to blend clean in with your effected signal with crossover freqs and stuff have really opened up what effects I can use and keep
My lows. Super easy to program patches

What kind of sounds are you using it for?
I'm considering adding the ability to do some volume swells, pads, synth tones, etc, like I can do with my rhythm guitar setup (minus the synth there) but don't want to muck up my bass signal with a bunch more pedals like a reverb, delay, etc, which I would only use for that purpose.

My basic everyday patch has a comp that always on. Then a lighter OD, heavy B7K drive, phaser, flanger and chorus. Then I have a "pretty" patch for noodley things. Several delays, 2 reverbs one is simple the other is an over the top modulated sound. Then some modulation as well.
For my rock band I've been working with some of the synth sounds and drives for a really thick bass tone. Haven't had much practice the last month though so I haven't
Got as much time with those.
How do you guys think the tone in this video can be acheived? The bass sounds so... big, warm, and full. It's a very clean tone and just fills so much space! Hoping it's not just "studio magic"....
Man, is that it?!? It's such a "huge" sound where I'm used to a normal bass tone being more "focused." I'd be happy if I could sound like this (not always, just have the option available... cuz really, we all like some tone variety right?)
Also, does "nice DI" mean... JDI nice? REDDI nice? Noble nice? ToneCraft nice? ___ nice?
This is my setup from this Easter - we were in a different location than normal, and I was backed against the wall with the drummer. Worked out though! There's also a Broughton Always On HPF mounted under the board.
