Then I guess you'd have to power it with a Godlyke PSU and use this acoustic bass through it...The Alpha-Omega...duh!
Haha, that happens with the cameras when you have songs like Praise Goes On where there are parts of the song that nothing but bass is going on!
We've currently got 5 campuses that serve around 18K IIRC, and we had over 30K on Easter. Our specific campus in Lafayette seats about 4400 and we do 4 services a weekend there

What are people loving for light overdrive?
Context: love my Geddy Lee, love the way it sounds, just want it a bit more broken up and intense on certain songs. I don't particularly care to have a pedal that fundementally alters it's sound.
I have a VT bass I'm breaking up with. never found a drive that works for me on it and no point having it as a clean pedal IMHO.
Thinking (cheapest to priciest) joyo ultimate drive, bass soul food, mxr bass OD, solidgoldfx beta germanium.

I've been running DG Vintage Microtubes and liking it alot for light overdrive. Also thought about the Fairfield Barbershop. If you have a good clean tone it's supposed to be transparent (not imparting its own flavor; just drive).
The newer Sansamp BDDI looks interesting too ...
If you can, pick up one of these used, then flip it if it doesn't work for you ...
Lots of people are digging the Source Audio Aftershock. I'm not sure what the $$ are.

I enjoy the B7K on a subtle setting. Alpha Omega even on light settings was too much haha.
Aftershock worked well also. Tons of options there.
Would the ultimate drive or beta work in this context of minimal tone change just layering drive?
You might consider trying the Joyo American Drive. I've read here that it works better for bass than the Ultimate Drive.
I really like my Damnation Audio MBD-1 for this purpose...it's a large footprint pedal, but well worth the real estate! Takes your bass tone and simply makes it thicker/bigger, without adding color.
The MBD-1 can do high gain OD, too...but many players (as I) use it as a always-on/low gain OD pedal.
Here's actually a pretty good vid of the Joyo American Sound thru a variety of overdrive levels from light to heavy -
Great sounding pedal in the lighter settings (IMHO)....my only beef with so many of these bass OD videos, is that they play only with a pick (I guess the opposite is true too). Pick gives a very different response and tonal output. I'd like to hear this sans pick.

There's lots of love for the Bass Soul Food. I also recently discovered the EHX Hot Wax. I like it quite a bit as a transparent drive that doesn't change the natural tone of my bass (on the Crayon side, at least). And I got it pretty cheap on a Prymaxe sale. The Hot Tubes side I use more as a clean preamp to give it some "tubey" character. I never use both sides together.
I had a Solid Gold FX beta, it was nicr, but too dark for my taste.. South Hampton Fifth Gear v2 is anothe good one ..
Blueberry Bass OD, I really like.
I've got an EarthquakerDevices Westwood coming to try.. it looks promising
I'll also add that the MBD-1 with these settings adds zero noise floor hiss, no break up (slight break up, if using pick)—but substantially thicker non-colored tone...
The MBD-1 also has an internal gain trim...mine is currently set at 50%. (fyi, the pedal enclosure is 4-3/4" wide)...

I take the opposite approach. I gave a Sansamp VTDI as a preamp/amp and speaker modeller set on low gain, almost completely clean B-15 mode. That provides a really nice core sound to FOH and the mixing desk. Then I use an EHX Bass Soul Food for some living overdrive when needed. The blend control is essential for me to retain a good amount of straight bass tone in the signal.

Yes ^ this. I do the same thing. It's a great base (and bass) tone to build on. Clean B-15 with the speaker sim on. Makes my clean bass sound much more "ampey" when I'm running direct-only, which is most of the time these days. I also have a DSM OCSD on the way which I expect will replace - or at the very least supplement very well - the VTDI for my clean tone.
granted the VT bass did sound better then no pedal when running right to FOH. At home through my mb500 and cab it doesn't seem to make a huge difference. So in that respect it seems like dead weight.
@TrevorR want to post your settings? or normal vtbass b15 settings?
Also hows the bass soul food? any low end loss? do you use it always on or an occasional drive?
