No. I have never liked that "clank" either. Get a OCSD and have a more useful and tweakable cab sim and a nice DI and a nice practice pedal.
If you use an amp, maybe . . . . maaayyybe . . . . you don't neeeed it. But if you're ampless, I'm going to go out on a limb and almost call it a must-have. Or at least something like it. And I haven't even gotten mine in the mail yet upon which to base that claim. But I dare you . . . no . . . I triple DOG dare you to watch this video and not want one:
If you are ampless/DI/IEM you absolutely should try the OCSD. I won't say it's a must have but it's as close to a must have as I have ever heard. I had a fantastic DI (JDI) for a while but I wanted more "life" in my IEM's especially. This is the only pedal/effect where the entire band and sound guy noticed that I used/changed my sound. It's that good.
