Ha! That seems about right! Given that I feel buried in the mix, I think I may be trying too hard. Really, it is that large for 2 reasons. 1. I wanted something I could pre-wire with everything including my REDDI. 2. I operated under the assumption that buying bigger and not needing it was better than smaller and then needing it. I do need to swap an Octave or chorus out occasionally and this will mean less swapping.

Loving that orange pedalboard! What did it set you back, if you don't mind me asking.
The custom size boards are as reasonably priced as any of the brands I reviewed. The options that I chose put me at $299 + shipping. You can spec one out and get an instant price on their site. Mike is awesome to work with as well. I spent some time on the phone with him and make some decisions.

Can I just grumble for a moment about this meme. There is some truth to it (that's why it's funny), but so often I see it posted as a slag against people who play at church, as if playing at church is a lesser form of playing. If you hang out in forums enough (here included) you'll often see people with big pedal boards and see that they are just bedroom players. There's nothing wrong with that, but it just annoys me that this meme becomes a cheap shot at church musicians /rant

I get that! However, I look at my stuff now too, basses and pedals, and think about how little I actually play, and the investment. It makes my laugh. I wish I would have had all these options back when I was full-time - about 15 yrs from the late 60's to '82.
I can see your point, but I didn't take it that way and I don't think it was meant that way in this case. I have a friend that is a sound guy and he's like, why do you do all this, we can barely hear you any way. My point is I can hear me and I know God can hear me, so I want to play my very best for Him. He is also quick to point out that I don't need boutique basses and tube amps too. While I suppose thats true, I suspect he doesn't need 110 inch 3D 4K projectors for his basement with 8 foot tall speakers and googlephonic surround, but he has it. It's all about the accouterments.
So, to your point, and I think we agree, it's only a lesser form of playing if one sees it that way. I clearly could pull this off with less, but I miss the options; physically and tonally. Our worship leader was a bit incredulous at first. He was like, bass just needs to go thunk thunk thunk, but after some dirt, and octaves, and fuzz, he is coming around. They can talk about me if they want, they will find a way regardless of what I do. I am playing for Him mostly and me a little too. And, there aint nothing better.

Yeah man... too true... I did competition barbecue a time or two and discovered that I was going to spend 3 days, hotel costs, travel expenses, $$ on meat, be up all night, not get to eat any of it, and if I was really lucky, I'd win $200.
I think your point is valid, but I also see some other ways to interpret this meme.
My thought when looking at the meme was not so much a slight to the worship musician as it was pointing out the number of sounds a single musician has to achieve in a worship setting to duplicate some popular contemporary Christian recordings accurately.

I was attempting to point out how, out there in the general internet, often this meme can get used to slag church players in general, under the presumption that they are just playing three songs.
Sorry for rocking the boat... it was more an observation of peopel's attitude toward "church players"

FWIW, my motivation to get pedals grew out of dissatisfaction with the sound I was getting at other churches I subbed at. In my home church, I am using a Streamliner into a El Whappo and it sounds glorious (APPROPRIATE for Church, isn't that?) but when I sub they either have a low end combo for me to use or want me to go direct. Adding the pedals allows me to get some semblance of decent tone.
