Worship Bass Pedalboards

Here is my set up from today's services. Running a light drive always on with the Zoom. All pedals powered with a Godlyke Power All. Pretty happy with this setup......for now.......;)

Yes, I also had the Broughton Synth Voice. Didn't float my boat. I was looking for the OC-2 kind of sounds. So now I'm also using the Cog Effects T-65 and loving it.

Wow...that's great! I really like the Synth Voice vibe, but typically use pretty subtle settings.

It was also important for me to have an OC-2 type tone within reach as well, and the T-65 covers that and more! It's worth the real estate, to have both on my board for now...

The old theatre/sound tech and hifi guy in me is screaming to uncoil that cable. I was taught that even well-shielded cable that's coiled becomes an inductor. No cable or cord plugged in should be coiled.

Feel free to ignore me. That just makes my skin crawl. ;)

The Preamp and Compressor sections sound great to me and I'm really happy with that.

The Drive section is something I've yet to figure out. To my ears, it seems to lose too much low end content which surprised me. I've got a TC Electronics BG250 combo that I practice with sometimes and I've always thought the TubeTone TonePrint in it sounded good. So far I've not found that to be true with the Pedal but I keep hoping that TC will release new updates and new Drive TonePrints.

The DI is nice and quiet. Even without using the Drive Section, I think the SpectraDrive is worth the price of admission for just the Preamp / Comressor / DI.

I'm sure - knowing TCE - that the TPs for the unit will rock. I've personally never used a TCE drive, but I know guitarists who swear by them and I love their sound, so I guess it remains to be seen if the bass gurus get their acts together!!!!

We did Oh God Sunday and I used a truly overdriven tone for the first time in church. I decided to use the VMT. The drive and blend were just about domed out. Awesome!

I've been using the Ictineo as a preamp, which has some magic, but I finally found the source of some unpleasant distortion - its coming from the Ictineo unfortunately. So I'm thinking about going back to my core setup - comp, OmniCabSim, and Noble. Considering adding the VT Bass back in so I have another eq and some nice SVT or fliptop style drive. I haven't specifically been using a driver for everything (always on style). That's a change for me. I was using the VMT and recently was comparing it to the Bearfoot Blueberry. Now I'm only using it for certain songs.

Just curious - I had the Fairfield Accountant - LOVE IT - but its sent back on a warranty repair. Ever since I sent it, I haven't heard from Fairfield. Its been a few months now. I know stuff happens but I'm worried I might be taking a loss on this one.... Anyone ever have experience with Fairfield Circuitry?

I've never dealt with them as far as repairs, but they've been responsive on instagram messages. I've had that comp too, nothing out there quite like it. I'd send them an email and see what's up.

Here are a couple of pics of the small pedalboard I've put together for the church at which I'm presently serving. As can been seen, it's very basic, but that's all I really need. Also, it solves almost all of the monitoring issues I've been experiencing. I'm planning on testing it this Sunday.

Pedaltrain Nano​

Power:
Truetone 1 Spot – Turbo Tuner, Rolls PM351
48V Phantom Power – Radial J48​

Signal Path:
Bass > Sonic Research Turbo Tuner ST-300 mini > Radial Engineering J48 > FOH and Rolls PM351.​

The Radial J48 feeds Front Of House (FOH – Behringer X32 Digital Mixing Console) with a balanced signal (BALANCED OUTPUT 600 OHM) and also sends an unbalanced signal (THRU) to the instrument in (INST. IN) of the Rolls Personal Monitor Station PM351.
(Note that the THRU port of the Radial J48 is a 'straight through' parallel connection of its INPUT port.)

The Rolls PM351 accepts a monitor mix from FOH to its line input (LINE INPUT).

The Rolls PM351 will allow me to adjust the overall monitor mix from the FOH with the LINE LEVEL knob and adjust my own bass level via the INST. LEVEL knob.

As some of you may know, the Behringer X32 board allows each musician to control his/her monitor mix of all of the instrument/vocal tracks via an app running on a smart phone, tablet or laptop/computer. This works well in many cases, but I've been experiencing issues with being able to hear myself, sudden (and sometimes violent) volume adjustments happening to individual musicians in my monitor mix at various times, etc. With my pedalboard as configured above I'll be able to control the overall monitor mix volume and since my bass sound goes directly to the PM351 (Bass > Tuner > J48 > PM351), I won't have to rely on FOH mixing to be able to hear myself at all times. I'll turn the Bass volume down to 0 in the X32 app and rely solely on the PM351 to monitor my bass sound and adjust it with the volume of the other musicians.

It is my hope that this will allow me to better serve the Lord and His church.

my board is simple but it works great for me, small and cheap, if i am going to dance its going to be in the Holy Spirit not pushing buttons on pedals. the pedals i keep on all the time is my keeley bassist and my boss delay and the delay is short. the boss eq i sold didn't care for it, i think i am going to replace it with a chorus. my basses i use is a Fender okuemo didn't spell that right but it is a jazz bass loaded withe emg jv52s i like them a lot better then the pickups that was in it, i also use a lakland 3tbs hollow body, and a home made fretless, it at one time a bass with the name of Austin on it don't know nothing about them. for some reason my cap lock are something is screwing up, if you were going to replace the boss eq i sold what would you replace it with maybe a chorus, Oh the pedal with know name is a fuzz pedal a guy in austin made for me, its a copy of the old dallas arbiter but handle bass a better, i think i should invest in a new computer, but this one is still working.

This should work well for you. I used the same concept for many years: Turbo Tuner > PM351 > JDI > FOH/Amp

We use an ampless stage. Interestingly enough, we also use an acoustic drum set and a 5 foot grand piano. The sound on stage from these instruments tends to drown out any sound coming from the of the FOH speakers, so if there's an issue with my monitor, I'm basically flying blind.

BTW - I considered going Turbo Tuner > PM351 > J48 > FOH as you basically note above, but thought that the J48 would be cleaner than the PM351 and so decided to feed FOH with that signal without going through the PM531.
What do you think?

Either way will work, both ways are just parallel bypassed I think.
