Nope. Ive had my JDI for a while. Had an Avalon U5 a long time ago. Tried a REDDI a couple years ago but don't remember why I didn't like it. Not sure I have it a chance. My band mates seemed to like the JDI over the REDDI.

If you want a more warm sound the solution might be a preamp rather than replacing the JDI. A good tube preamp like the Suncoast F2p should be plenty warm through a JDI. It has two isolated channels, each with their own 12AX7, that can be independent or combined.

Hmm. Never heard of it. Looks interesting. The sound on the video is really nice.

I've never thought that I really needed a preamp on my DI/IEM board. My Roscoe's are active and have a preamp already. My newly acquired P bass is a P bass. I figured a nice DI is all I need. Maybe I need to rethink that logic. it seems like many of you have some kind of preamp/eq on your boards.

I owned one for quite awhile. It nails warm/tube tone. I dont think you can get that kind of feel/tone from an on-board bass preamp. If you dont want to do a preamp + DI you could also look at the Shift Line Olympic MkIIIs. It is a tube combo preamp/DI.

Hold out for the forthcoming DSM Noisemaker Simplifier Bass Station. I've got a prototype and it really is an amazing piece of kit that I think will accommodate the DI and warmth you are seeking. Also adds the right amount of coloration with cab simulation and excellent preamp blend for live FOH situations.

Interesting...how quiet is the noise floor on the prototype? Many (including myself) felt the OCSD was a great pedal, but on the "hissy" side...

Some compressors can add warmth as a function of their inherent eq emphasis, but that is not their primary design, of course. I feel like my MPFG definitely adds punch and fullness, and can add some warmth with its eq curve, with the time knob south of 12:00. But warmth would be more of a function of preamp/eq, in my opinion.

This comp pedal (while not inexpensive)...checks a lot of boxes for me.

Simple tube warmth, transformer DI (keep a short 1/4">xlrm in gigbag) dead quiet noise floor.

IIRC, you preferred the clean and hi-fi sound of the JDI. Vintage warmth doesn't seem to be your thing.

I have a Diamond comp you could borrow to try with your P. It sounds pretty nice and is extremely quiet. It tends to make things a little fatter but also a little cleaner somehow.

Yeah, I(we) tend to like a fairly clean sound. Yet, we can never seem to get the bass to sound full and warm in our ears.
