I haven’t dove into purchasing presets, but have looked into just a little bit. Where are the best spots to look? Can you list a few links?

I am sorry that I have not replied! Life is crazy right now with the Christmas season coming up - last night I took photo's of my church's drive through Christmas story (14th year! and we usually get a couple thousand cars through), got home and my Nikon's files are all corrupted! LOTS of time trying to fix that, without luck... This whole season has gone like that! I am hoping the camera is salvagable but if it is not, my MTD 535 is going on the block to fund a new one!

• Anyway - the place to start is Link Removed - lots of fun stuff there and you can download for free and modify/play with them till your heart is content.
• I hate to recommend something on farcebook but the "Helix for Bassists" group is really helpful. And you will get some great ideas to use on your own.
  
• I also like Alex Strabala's stuff (not free) but I use the SVT preset a LOT and the Motown one is great too. Mostly guitar (Eeew!) stuff there.

I am using a Morningstar MC6 II midi switcher and I am a midiot - but, with the help of the Morningstar group and the Helix for Bassists group I have learned a lot. THe only reason I mention is the switcher is that it automates changing presets over the course of a set and that is a huge help. Only 6 stomp switches on the Morningstar but you can use them to set up to 30 different presets.

BTW - the "Eeew" for guitars was a jest.

I came really close... REALLY CLOSE, to getting an EQD Plumes, because everything video I watched, it sounded so good. But then an MBD2 popped up for a fantastic price and I don't regret getting it.

Does the Plumes sound as good as the videos??

I’ve never heard the MBD2, but the plumes does sound good. It still sounds like a tube screamer though, which I don’t always like.

I’m the wrong guy to ask though because I don’t really like most overdrives on bass. I went with the plumes because I needed an overdrive for certain songs, wanted top jacks, and it’s less than $100. It does sound good, but I don’t love it. That’s more of a “me problem” rather than a shortcoming of the plumes though.

The MBD-2 is sooooo good, and highly flexible. You can get a surprising variety of tones out of that sucker. But once I got it dialed in to where I liked it, it basically sounded exactly like my Tech21 YYZ, which is my favorite drive of all time. But I don't think it could be any more different from tbe plumes, lol.

Ohhhhh, you may have just helped me find another phaser to add to the collection. I have an Earthquaker Devices Grand Orbiter v3 and it's fantastic, but I've been looking for one with a tap feature and a blend.

BTW, interesting side note - the maker of EQD himself has said that the Grand Orbiter is the only pedal he makes that has a permanent place on his pedalboard! If that`s not a recommendation...

The MBD-2 is sooooo good, and highly flexible. You can get a surprising variety of tones out of that sucker.

This is so true. I think people see "Damnation Audio" and "Distortion" and automatically think hard rock/metal/etc. This can do that but the warm/light break up tones are fantastic too. The onboard "Clean" and "Depth" knobs in conjunction with the mid shift switch allow it to do everything. It also makes a fine breakfast.

There's a mid-shift switch? I thought that was a phase shift, not a switch that changed the frequency of the mids.

It's also one of two pedals that has never left my board since purchase. Literally everything else has changed at some point...even my tuner. I've used it in phase mode and as a Q filter both with great success.

I just didn't realize just how much I'd be blown away impressed with it..

Lol. This was me too. When I saw one in the classifieds a while back, I listened to some videos. I thought they were all absolutely terrible. Like MAYBE you would use this thing if you were in a heavy metal band, but that's about it. But I couldn't help but wonder why it was so loved around here, so I decided to give it a shot. I was also totally blown away by the flexibility. It does so much more than just djent-worthy dirt.

All outdoors and playing some fun versions of Christmas carols. I don’t get to play amplified on our main campus, so the board isn’t going anywhere, but it was nice having my ears open and free of IEM’s and my pant legs flapping a tiny bit.

The Darkglass ADAM looks intriguing as a single pedal DI solution...nice interface options, IR’s, and includes a chromatic tuner, too.

My Microtubes XUltra can be “tamed” nicely for church...wondering about this?

I was so excited to use this board today but my daisy chain power cable died this morning.

I had to pick one pedal and run with it. Decided to run the Broughton Fliptop as my preamp straight into the JDI. I hate playing without a tuner.
