I ha e been using a Sonic Research tuner for probably a decade. It is my favorite hands down. Quick and accurate. Not the cheapest, but really not THAT expensive! I currently have 3... an ST-300 mini on my pedalboard, an ST-300 in my gig bag, and an ST-200 on my bench, for setups. With an EBS pedalboard cable, it doesn’t take up much real estate either.

I was looking at the usual places. I’ll just go right to the source. I’d go full size as 1) old eyes and b) it’ll fill the space in my carry case.

Right. I was seeing some crazy prices so I don’t know what happened there. $129 isn’t expensive. I also had the thought about intonating and set ups and how having a really nice tuner would be great for that as well.

The full size, with battery, is so versatile. I love having one in my gig bag for times when I need to loan it to a bandmate, or when I don't have my pedalboard with me. It just 'lives' there. The mini is great for squeezing onto a stuffed pedalboard.

I've been vacillating between the SR ST-300 and the Peterson StroboStomp HD. If I had come across the StroboStomp HD $65 sale soon enough, that would have been the sign.

I've been leaning towards the ST-300 mini. Now you're going to make me vacillate between the full size and mini.

In the past, I always wanted the Darkglass Vintage Microtube...it never landed into fitting in our settings. Later in the game, I found my favorite “grit” sounds in the Mesa Flux-Five...loved that pedal.
I miss the Mesa, but I currently don’t need extra distortion. My Alien Audio bass, comes with a custom pre-amp that has distortion, and it was designed by the designer of the SWR Mo-bass preamp....truly my fav now!
I love building pedalboards, and I’m currently working on one...but not finished. Here’s a few pics of my current “get-by”, a pic of the current build, and a few pics of one of the older boards...with the Mesa Flux-Five....

My new setup for Sundays will be:

D’Addario CT-20 tuner
MXR Il Torino drive (or EQD Plumes)
*Wampler Ego Compressor
Broughton Fliptop (B15 in a box)
Radial JDI

*When the Fliptop gets here, I will move the compressor around in the chain to see where I like it best. I typically like the Il Torino drive more than the EQD Plumes for bass, but there is no telling which drive will play nicer with the Fliptop.

I hope to try out the Fliptop soon! I hope it gives me more of the B15 flavor and replaces my Tech 21 VTDI.

I had the ST-300 and it was the best tuner ever. I'm using the tuner on the HX Stomp now and it is extremely accurate, too.

I hate to say it, but my FAVORITE tuner was the old Korg DTR-1 - NOT because it was really accurate (it was) but I was playing with some REALLY OCD pianists and, if they got on my case about something, I would leave the tuner on during the performance! It reminded me of the Zylons from Battlestar Galactica (dating myself, there!) with the lights going back and forth across the face of the rack tuner! If it were a long set, you could almost see them twitching at the end!

and now you know the kind of guy I REALLY am!
