I have a fairly small board, Tuner and Microtubes X are essential. I love the clean tones I get from the MXU and can add a little dirt when needed. Just got the OC-5 which is kind of fun to get a synthy sound every now and then.
Great little setup. I’ve been curious about the OC-5. Apparently the vintage mode is supposed to be good!
what do you think about those barefoot buttons? I’ve been on the edge to buying them a few times.
A marking pen to save your settings. Really helps when moving the board around a lot, or rearranging your pedals. I need to get a new one, mine 'died' a year ago, or so.

The vintage mode on the OC-5 is pretty cool, still playing with it, but it is fun.
I really like the barefoot buttons, I practice at home with no shoes so it does make it nice to press.
These days I dial a good IEM tone. FOH does the rest.
It helps in a lot of ways. I can dial an IEM tone at home with my monitors (and can even compare against MultiTracks stems to get a mix feel).
You have to be able to trust the FOH engineer though. At church, one of ours is the former main bass player-turned lead sound engineer.
Yep. I gear everything for the IEM tone. It’s all I can control really. I work with the same FOH mixer most of the time so it’s not quite the same as some other situations. He mixes at church and the cover band. He gets an equal 1/6 cut for gigs.
Got to do a little bit of recording for fun today... thought I'd share what my tone is like generally in the mix. In the beginning its just fingers and during the build I use a pick. I use the MicroSynth at the end, but usually that's only reserved for big moments.
I just use a red "grease pencil" on my Darkglass VMTD - just rubs off when you want to change and you can get it at any office supply store. (I stole mine from my wife!)

In case someone is looking for a really good set of presets - I got the Nashville Bass Pack for HX STOMP by Steve Cook from the Line 6 site. I now use selections from that pack for 4 of the 6 spots on my Morningstar switcher (home bank) and the other 2 are the Blake bass and a Blake bass with distortion. Apparently, Steve Cook is a long time Nashville bassist and the presets are all usable and well done. No commercial interest, just a very satisfied customer and I feel 15 very usable presets for $20 is a deal. On the download page you can find some demo's () and there are additional ones on Yoot-ube.
My go to board has, in chain order, the HX Stomp, a Morningstar MC6 midi switcher and a Darkglass VMTD for some more hair when needed. I also am using a MicroThumpinator between the Stomp and VMTD and a CIOKS DC7 power supply. I attached the DC7 to the bottom of my Nano+ board with velcro but have had problems with it pulling loose and have ordered the piece to screw the unit to the pedalboard.
I also have been experimenting with various IR's but, for the most part, I am fine without them.

Cool rig! I found in my personal experience that once you’re playing through a full range PA, IRs are less important for bass. Very important for guitar, but not so much for bass. I find it clouds up the low end while getting rid of clarity quite often.

Really liking this new pedalboard but have to decide whether to stay with my Khan Tube DI or the Noble Preamp. The Noble sounds best to me but the khan is close with this setup IMO.
Did you ever try any other compressors before choosing the empress? Been thinking about it lately
Look at his signature. He's tried a few. A few preamps also. @scubaduba that Simone looks nice and board friendly. How does it compare to the Oracle?
