I was just wondering what other bassist were playing for there worship band! I have a pedal board but recently took it apart and i'm going to start over and build a new pedal board! Show you pictures!!

I put together my first pedalboard for my bass. There are a few things that I am experimenting with. Some things may change, but at the moment I am happy with it and it covers a wide variety and styles of music depending on the church/service, etc.

I really want to try a micro synth. Nobody in my area has one. Ive heard sounds but we all know when we play a pedal its not always what we want when we finally play it.

Thinking I might want a Metro 20 so I can put the RNDI on the board as well vs. on the floor. Anyone have one they're wanting to part with?

Not a Metro, but I have an older Mini... it's 20" wide just like the Metro 20, just doesn't have the third rail.. PM me if you're interested

I really want to try a micro synth. Nobody in my area has one. Ive heard sounds but we all know when we play a pedal its not always what we want when we finally play it.

It will be a very unique experience, highly dependent on what you run the microsynth through. I find running it through the Tone Hammer really compresses and controls the signal a lot, shaving off the crazy highs and tightening the lows. It sounds much more organic.
By itself, the MicroSynth can be a lot to tame, so if anything using a compressor and some EQ will probably be needed if it isn’t going through an overdrive or distortion (basically compression)

yeah it would be through TH then to board. Thats where most of the problem comes in, it all sounds great through my amp and my single 15 or 810, but in church setting so many things sound bad. With out the amp and speakers drives and things sound thin weak and ear piercing. Im learning to not pass judgement on my IEM sound but let our sound guy who is probably the best bass player I have ever heard, tell me what sounds good or not. Funny I thought my agro sounded like crude, he said it killed in the mix.

I have found if you want the texture of your overdrive to come through in a mix, generally, you need more gain than you think you do.

This is very true. I have an overdrive that sounds extremely pleasing, but it’s hard to tell that it’s even on when in a full mix, because it only does low gain. I got a Damnation Audio MBD-2, which can do a bit more gain, and it’s audible and great in a mix. When it comes to overdrive, the sounds that work well in a mix generally don’t sound good alone.

Yep I often do this. I get the "touch of hair" thing that sounds great in my IEM's but doesn't come through in the PA live mix.

I have one and I’ve never gotten to be able to get a sound out of it I really liked. That’s at home and not through a full system. It’s just never happened for me.
And I have a Dirty Robot and haven’t warmed to that as well.

Yup, its very responsive, playing with fingers will get you that rounder woody tone, but using a pick will start to break it up more.

Yeah I have one and use it a lot, but never understood how some guys ran the gain so high. Most CCM music we do is P bass with a Pick. So I have the gain down lower so it doesnt break up so fast. Then I have gain pedal, or at least trying to find one that works, for heavier stuff.

I always thought that was a little bit too high gain and always had it about noonish, but I recently purchased a month of the Production Online membership which does a lot of videos with the Bethel Music guys. They definitely have that same aggressive tone going with the TH, pretty much the same settings as I had in the video. Kinda how someone mentioned earlier in the post, I think you need a bit of grit to actually cut through. Playing dynamically is also a big key of course, the tone isn't full tilt like that the whole song, maybe only the bridge and last chorus.
