Hey have a "pedal" related question. We are playing Graves into Gardens" and I am trying to get a punchy sound I here on the track. Does anyone have good compressor setting (s) that I could start with? I will be playing a Lakland 55-01 through my FM 3. So I have a lot of compression "pedals" to choose from in the modeler.

I use an Empress Bass Compressor. I have it set on 10:1 ratio and about 75% mix so there's a little uncompressed parallel signal going thru, but I really like it. I'm surprised. I t's still musical and I have dynamic control. I went big after hearing someone somewhere talk about the tight bass sound on a recording and how it was achieved. Everyone loves my tone these days so...
Fm3 as a DI? Yes. It works very well. I switch between guitar and bass very often. For the bass side it sounds very similar to the Mesa subway I had previously.
IDK. I may just stick with what I have. Someone told me this recently:

Words of wisdom there. I have a great set up with my Sonic Tuner, Empress Bass Compressor, Genzler 4 On The Floor drive, and REDDI tube DI. I might gain a little by doing something else, but will it be worth the money, ordering new pluck and peel foam for my Pelican case, gaining a couple presets? IDK. The only "issue" I have is maybe the compressor settings not being ideal for all basses and having presets would be nice. It'd be cheaper to buy another compressor, or just change settings on the one I have as I use a bass for an entire set at least. Could always have a "cheat sheet" and change settings between sets.

@SteveC Yep. That's why they invented: stickers, sharpies, paint pens. All good ways of "saving presets" on old-fangled equipment. 
A clean boost before the comp perhaps? On for passive, off for active. TC Spark mini is about $40 used.
Yep, that could be an option as well. I'll have to experiment as it seems like the passive output is pretty strong. I didn't change any levels for my IEM's for example, when I switched, but the passive bass didn't sound as "tight" as the active bass did.

Yeah, a simple twist of the input dial on the Empress bass comp is all it takes to adjust between different basses for me.
I have a Radial Bigshot I/O, which lets you match gain levels switching between basses.
Also an option to consider.

Yeah, should just need to attenuate the input to depending on the bass.
Most of the time I play threw my reddi directly into pa.
Sometimes I need a fuzz or an overdrive pedal.
I think I get rid of the reddi because there is no cabsim.
Ha anybody an idea how I can play with a fuzz threw the reddi?
Any idea for an good cabsim or an other preamp?

There's a whole rabbit hole to go down when it comes to effects. If you need a few random things now and then with cab sim in one tidy package then look into something like HX Stomp or similar multi-effects unit, cheaper options from Zoom (B3n or MS-60b) or Boss GT-1b. If you just want to add a cab sim then there are a couple of IR pedals out there, I am using a NUX Mini Studio. As to playing through the Reddi, you can put any pedal or board before it and still use it as your DI.
I find I don't need "cabism" with the REDDI. I run a drive pedal right before my REDDI no problem, and a compressor.
Just a very slight adjustment of input and output fixed it. P bass is crushing it today.
Every time I think about going BAmp, I play my Empress/REDDI and wonder if the BAmp, good as it is, will have the "weight" I feel from the REDDI. Yes, the BAmp is infinitely adjustable from frequencies to slope to Q to on and on, but will it have the sound of the tubes and the heavy iron transformer and all that? I suppose the only way to really know I'd buy one, try to get it to sound like my REDDI and if I don't like it, sell it. I'm sure someone would buy a barely used BAmp mk 2.

The latest iteration of the rig. Only things I work in this far are the stomp, compressor, and tuner. The reverb found it's way in this morning, but we haven't run anything that has called for the dirt or synth stuff in a while.
