Worship Bass Pedalboards

So, let's add this to the equation for me. I'm in the market for a new MacBook air. My desktop is a relic and barely runs anymore. Being an educator, Apple gives us a little discount on hardware and software. With a MacBook Air purchase, I can get a suite that includes Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and MainStage. Our keyboard payer uses MainStage for his rig. There are bass modules as well. So...maybe I try MainStage? No more digital than say a Bergantino B|Amp, or HX Stomp, or whatever. Everything there. Effects, compression, filters, etc.
In the "different but similar" category, I have gone to a full Source Audio board, which has a lot of editing capabilities online. I'm using the UltraWave Bass for all my compression needs.

You guys are killing me. I LOVE tech but am also old school in some ways. I also like back-ups to back-ups, etc. LOL I am always wanting "more better" something. At least you guys talk it through online so I don't have to go through ALL of it alone!

So I'm actually doing a public service. I feel better now.

Now, do I keep my 2017 Audi A6 or trade it for a 2021 Mazda CX-9?

As a 2021 Mazda CX-9 Carbon Edition AWD owner, I love our Mazda. 10k miles so far and amazing bang for the buck. If the Mazda -6 sedan came in AWD, I may consider squeezing my 6'6" 300lb self OUT of my GMC Sierra Double Cab SLT 4X4 and buying the 6- THAT's how happy we are so far. :)

ETA: every Mazda I drove with a turbo in it was FUUUUNNNN! The CX-5 the CX-30 and the Mazda 6 also.

I had a Sierra Crew Cab before the Audi. Great truck. I just don't really NEED a truck and they are SO EXPENSIVE and they don't update the interior very well. Even the 2022 isn't up to par with the rest. The CX-9 is pretty fun. Not the most space in the segment, but adequate. And they made a pretty good offer for my A6.

I do NEED a truck (a little bit because of my size) but also #countrylife. The 3rd row did it for my wife on the CX-9. That and all the amenities she could get in the price range. We are seriously considering another mazda when my youngest ages into her own car in 1-2 years. That may change by then but for now, we love it. Great Bose system in it too!

Here's a pic. Check out the SA sight for some good videos on the three pedals I'm using, especially the UltraWave. Nathan Navarro goes somewhat in depth on the possibilities.

I watched the Ultrawave Bass video. When I play around with weird sounds like that, they don't sound as good. Must be the equipment lol.
Everything is very tweakable in the editor. And I'm really only using it as a compressor right now. I spent twice what I paid for this on an LA-1A, so its pretty easy to justify. Plus it is way more versatile, and I could conceivably have 128 different settings if I wanted to. Eventually I will dive in on this one. The synthy stuff will come in handy for my Funk band.

I have always been a sucker for two things: capability and reliability. These things DEF have capability! But with music, I mean- it's ART. So I also like there to be some mojo. Whether it is cool looks or some other je ne sais quoi, matters little but it must have one or both. I don't even care about bragging rights as long as I think it's cool. And that's just from some random internet dude who will probably never be in a Funk band. Although I can tear the roof off the sucka.

Should be here friday, replacing a Bass Soul Food.

yay!

Peace,

That has that mojo for sure! Any problems with the BSF or just needed MORE?

Also, I should point out that I am considering a Julia/ana Chorus for bass because my wife and daughter saw one in a GC and told me I could buy it because it looked cool. :)

BSF is not that old, but it's dying. Intermittent volume drops (even disengaged), in the last few weeks a terrible hiss when it's turned on.
Watched a Bass Channel review, sounded like it had that good top-end grit that I get from the BSF, but with even more control to dial it in. Without having to go digital, which is a type of pedal that just scares me.

Will let you know how I get on, but I suspect it's going to be an absolute beast.

Peace,

Yeah, I'm silly. I'm a sucka for how things sound, and these sound amazing.

I guess I DO have to specify on the internet. Sorry- yes sound is number one. :)

But that SA stuff is a neat blend of digital effects and stompbox. I can see a deep rabbit hole there!
Definitely spending more time in front of my computer than normal! But I'm only chasing a few different sounds, so hopefully not too deep a rabbit hole.
