Mmm... Mazda Soul Red Premium Metallic. So good!
I've noticed that on a cloudy day the color can be rather drab (could be the cars I've seen may have needed a wash). However, when the sun hits it, the red is just phenomenal; deep, rich, and quite vibrant.
I've also noticed a lot of other car manufacturers have attempted to mimic Mazda's efforts, to varying degrees of success, but for me, none I've seen have equaled the brilliance of Mazda's Soul Red Premium Metallic.
Sorry, I didn't make much sense there. Basically, with the same power amp for my iems, my tone sounds significantly worse through the mixer at church, even with all processing and effects turned off. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think room dynamics should affect my iem tone.
No I don't think the room would affect your IEMs. If you are getting the returned signal from the board to your IEMs then the issue is how you are EQd at the FOH board. I know IEMs can sound very sterile and dry if there is no, or less than you're used to, processing to your signal before it's returned to your IEMs. I eventually put the Rolls unit on my board to 1 hear myself but also 2 control my tone and hear it how I wanted to hear it in my IEMs. Does your bass sound fine in the house mix at church just not in your IEMs?
What does "same power amp" mean? What is between your bass and the board at church?
1/4" to a passive DI, XLR to mixer. I can see the eq in the mixer, since it is completely tablet controlled.
That was the issue I was having. If you are sending a line level signal to the board make sure they have you on a line level input. My signal was so hot through the "mic" channel they had me in they had the gain down so low I couldn't be heard in the IEMs. You might be blowing out the channel on the board if your signal is hot and they have a preamp turned on on the channel. Not saying the sound guys don't know their equipment but many times they are just volunteers too and may not know as much as a sound tech.
Yup, they're volunteers. I can see my signal is strong in the system, but not overdriving the input. Normally my bass signal is not very hot, so they have it around 30dbs of gain, which is about the same as most of the mics. I half think it might be a cable issue.
I just want to put this here. Quite proud of this tone. It is Empress Bass Comp > Stomp > Khan DI.
The Stomp preset has a dual SVT amp sim (one SVT for 340Hz and below and one for above 340Hz). On this set Im also using the Stomp to provide an Octaver (Breathe Miracles), overdrive (B7K sim), and HPF/LPF (though sometimes I have a Chorus in there).

So that's a very different chain than you do at home straight to your interface. Is your bass active or passive? The DI could be loading your bass too much and changing the tone of your bass quite a bit. Even which passive DI it is matters.
You didn't answer what you meant by "same power amp."
Sorry, by power amp I really mean headphone amp. I have plugged into the interface with my passive DI and an XLR. I have both an active and a passive bass.
I've been fully convinced in the Khan for the past year and how great it is. Best thing I ever done was build my pedalboard setup consisting of the Khan-Broughton Messenger-Cali76CB. Sounds great man.
I was correct. It's a beast. Really really rich sounding, a LOT more on tap, more than I'll ever need, but very tweakable. Very detailed sound, even with the treble rolled off there's plenty of harmonic sound coming through.
I have a band practice on Monday, I'll let you know if it sounds good through PA or if the bass gets swallowed with it engaged.
It looks beautiful, too: the photos don't do that metallic maroon/red paint justice.

Enough bass comes through? I know that's an issue with guitar pedals at times….
It's fine through my amp and through my IEMs.
I'll let you know what it's like in a band context after next practice.
It has both a blend control and a bass boost/cut control, so it should be fine.
