But yeah - was getting complaints about volume for awhile - we even had a deacon bring in a spl meter!! The funniest part about that fiasco was that his reading was loudest at the peak of the sermon - with no music playing. Long story short I told him to see our pastor if he wants him to quiet down.

Anyway - back to topic - no pedal board. We play contemporary stuff Marvin Sapp, Kirk, Donald Lawrence, Israel etc so mostly clean sound with bag racked U5 and dbx 160a

As crazy as it is the loudest my primary gets is with the geezer chorus and organ

Printed out a copy and asked if we needed to bring it up to the choir

G'day Cats,

Thought I'd chip in - I don't have a board specifically for worship (I use it in all contexts), but I do use effects in a worship setting.

Been playing on worship teams (and leading worship) for over 20 years now - had a lot of different effects over the years (actually, mostly variations on the same effects), and here's my current board.

This morning I used the Tone Hammer and VT Bass as my core sound, compressor is always on, used the octamiser for one song to really fill out the bottom end with a slightly more synth vibe, auto swell on the M5 for an atmospheric section in the middle of the set, and the chorus for a bit of lead work on the fretless during a ballad.

Tastefully done effects can really add to a set (they've got to fit within the overall expression of musical worship in your context though).

Here's what I've been using at church for a long time. I also play in an originals rock band, but I use the effects more at church than with them (though I'm trying to change that; more pedals in the rock). I would say I use the fuzz the most of them all, but the phaser and octave get plenty of love. The bassballs has yet to make an audio appearance in a set yet, but I'm waiting for the right song as I love that thing.

I also have a pile of pedals sitting on the shelf that are waiting for the new board to be built. It's gonna be huge, but the case has wheels and I love the options I have. They're especially useful on the songs we play during the giving time as those can be just about anything that is relevant to the day's sermon. We've covered a lot of different genres and bands.

ST-200 -> FEA Dual Band -> B3K -> ParaEQ -> BOD -> REDDI. Honestly though I've thought about paring it down to just the tuner, compressor, and REDDI. I'm just using the ParaEQ as a boost right now, and I prefer a clean bass sound for 95% of the songs we do. I actually like fuzz more than overdrive so I might also look at swapping out the B3K for a TAFM.

Ok, so, I just got a pedalboard. I've been playing for years, but just straight bass. I have Boss DD3, CEB-3, & TU-3, as well as a Samsamp Bass Driver DI. Because I never had a pedalboard, it was hit or miss if I actually used my pedals, considering the DD3 eats 9v batteries, more likely not to than actually using them. In fact, it was only during my rock band I was in did they get used, and I never used any effects at church.

Well, my pedalboard has only those 4 pedals, and I honesty don't like the Samsamp at all. I'm looking for suggestions to add to my board.

Ironically, I brought my board to service this morning, and it was a good thing I did because our lead guitarist had to play drums, so it was just me, drums, and acoustic guitar with a couple singers, so I hit the DD3 and played high and it filled the lead part. Lol. I got compliments on it by several people.

So, in reading these posts, I have a list of pedals to look into. I was going to ask if anyone had any info on the EBS ValveDrive. Also, where did you find a REDDI? I've been searching for that and the Evil Twin to no avail.

We have a mixed congregation who a little over 5 years ago said "certain chords are satanic". My Bss rig is an Apeg SVT4 Pro, Ampeg SVT810E, Pedal board is a Trailer Trash with
Volume pedal - EHX Big Muff Pi - EHX Small Clone - EHX Bassballs - ProTone Raven Dirty Chorus - Boss Bass Overdrive.
I use almost every effect during the service, hardly ever use a clean channel. Church has really grown and gotten away from their religiousness.

not really a correct way. If it sounds good nobody complains

Standard Advice I have received:
tuner first
compressor
fuzz/od/modulation in whatever sounds good
preamp (so in your case, the VT Bass)
