I had a Soul Preacher for a while but had a hard time finding a setting where the signal wasn't so "squashed". I really dig the sustain it gives though

Interesting. Of all my effects, I use the Muff the most. We have some songs where there's a loud bridge or chorus and the BBM really rocks. The others that I use with some regularity are sub-octave and phaser. The SansAmp is always on. I'll be using more, I'm sure, once I build my new board. I have a pile of pedals but no room for them currently.

Thanks, Amped. Yeah, I don't really use the Preacher too often but I do like the sustain as well.

Yeah, I love the way they line up together...pondering getting the filter twin but I'm not sure I'd ever really need it. Would look cool on my board though

Always worth trying out. Plus the blend knob keeps the FOH guy from TOTALLY hating you...

While I wait for the opportunity I'll have to find a nice fuzz pedal, I have considered what I need to add to my board next.

I have thought a good reverb or delay pedal to fill in instrumental parts and to give ambiance, though I have never tried either type of effect on bass.
From clips I've heard on youtube, I am leaning more towards reverb...

I also looked at the EHX Freeze and think its a neat pedal as well. Similar to what a reverb pedal could do actually.

anyone have any experience with the Freeze and reverb?

I'll have to post a pic of my board later. It's a combined bass and electric guitar board, and in truth none of the pedals were bought for bass (okay, except maybe the strobe tuner so I could do easier intonation with my Buzz Feiten-ized bass). So far I've found myself using overdrive, octave and tremolo, each just for small parts of one or two songs. I mostly get my variety from right hand placement and pickup selection but it's nice to add a bit of seasoning with the pedals from time to time.

Ok, here's what I've been using for the last several weeks. Not too pretty (it definitely triggers my OCD) but it works well. The VT is in the loop of the M13, which feeds the M-80 as a DI. I use the VT when I'm playing fretted, and I engage the M-80 when I go with the fretless.

I'm so glad to see that you guys use effects in the church gig! Our church has been on an acoustic kick lately, which means that they prefer more traditional sound. I, however, do my best to bring the John Entwistle sound to our stripped down worship.

They are kid paint fuzzrocious pedals so don't be turned off by the look as try sound amazing.
