Worship Bass Pedalboards

To be honest, I guess it kinda depends. In my opinion, volume pedals should always be after distortions. Otherwise, the distorted tone will become less distorted when the volume is lowered. If it's after distortion, than the distorted tone remains the same after volume adjustment. Anyways, this would typically create an active signal (I could be wrong...) Hence, get the active version (that's what I have). But if you run your volume first, then the passive one should definitely be used on passive basses....
If it was my board, I would overdrive -> volume (tuner off of volume) -> chorus -> sansamp.
Although the sansamp may also have distortion on, it can also be used as a DI so it should be last.
I also like to leave my tuner always on, and just turn my volume pedal down to tune. This way, you can check you tuning when you're playing a live note. The only con about this layout is that when you tune, your note may be distorted making the tuner struggle I guess. I just turn my distortion off to tune.

Tuner -> VP -> Chorus -> Overdrive - "Other Effects" -> Sansamp DI -> Soundboard

If i would use it this way what would the issue if use my active bass with the active VP JR (the 25K) I belive and then choose to just use the passive every once and awhile? Would it just be a gain issue that I could boost later with the sansamp or would it cause other issues that I would be unable handle once I would be past the Vp?

From my understanding, if you run the volume after the tuner, you should be fine with the 25k regardless of bass, because the tuner is a buffered (active) signal.
But I would run the chorus after OD because it modulates and you want to modulate distortion, not distort modulation. But it doesn't hurt to try both.

Well, I'm a big fan. That bottom left corner of my board is more of my one-man-band at-home practice part BUT I have used the Beat Buddy live for one song. The Beat Buddy is also my master MIDI clock for the rest of my rig even when I'm not using the drum sounds themselves.

My "type" of pedal that you didn't mention is a compressor pedal. I've gone through many compressor pedals, but I never turn it off.

The Darkglass Super Symmetry is a really nice compressor. I had a Keeley Bassist and like the Super Symmetry better - much more transparent to my ears.

I have been thinking that I have the following bases covered:

• Tube and mild distortion
• Compression
• Overdrive (Factotum)
• Sub-Octave (Factotum)

The UniChorus did not work with either the VMTD set to sound really tubey or the Overdrive, so I dropped that. I really like funk, so I was thinking about the Wonderlove but wonder how much I would use it.

Here are 2 quick photos of the board I sometimes use for worship services:

Board is a Pedaltrain Metro 20
Signal path is as follows:
Bass -> Mute Switch (left output goes to Turbo Tuner, which has nothing connected to its output) (right output) -> Empress Compressor -> MXR Bass Octave Deluxe -> MXR Bass Envelope Filter (which I haven't found a use for in any worship music yet)-> MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe -> TC Electronic Hall Of Fame -> Aguilar Tone Hammer -> Amp and/or FOH.

Note: The purpose of the separate tuner out on the Mute Switch is to enable the Turbo Tuner to be constantly on, allowing me to check pitch while playing. If I need to adjust or check silently, I just mute the signal with a press of the SIGNAL switch. Also the Turbo Tuner has the updated software that allows it to power up in the ON state. This means the tuner is always on and assessing pitch without me ever having to worry about it.

This is my first attempt at cable organization. I definitely need help in this area. 

OK - done for now. I decided to add a 3Leaf Wonderlove and am having a blast with it. But, as the vampires keep telling Blade - "GAS Always wins!" Well, maybe that is not *exactly* what the line in the movie was...

Had a great time using the pedals for the services this morning aand got several positive comments on the tone. Tried the Wonderlove in practice before the first service but it was not right for the tunes. I kicked the OD on two of the songs and the octaver on one and a good tone was had by me!

I have one and I love it. I use it both for practice and to sub when our drummer cant play. The learning curve is a little steep but it sounds great through the PA once you get the hang of it. Thr manufacturer is adding new features to the software and firmware so be sure to participate in the BBforum if you get one.

Thanks for the info. It is definitely on my "want list", the problem is all my "extra funds" are headin to bills! But that pedal is one I would truly use.

I love the XP. A guitar player friend of mine handed it to me one day to try and I liked it so much I bought it. I'm trying out the Accountant this weekend, so I'll report back. Actually, I traded the XP away already. I was pretty dependent on the blend function for a long time, but I'm warming up to compression. I was really impressed with the Accountant sound clips I heard. For my secular rock band I have been getting great results with the Boss CS-2, but that brings out everything, and it's a little too rowdy for the quiet moments in church.

The XP has a nice low end boost on the high compression setting, and I liked it blended in with the dry signal. Its a clean sounding comp. Nice and compact. Recommended.

This is my combo bass and guitar board. I just run a Sadowsky preamp off to the side because it won't work with velcro anyway because of the feet, and I have a plug for it that stays wrapped up in between the slats on my board.

My most commonly used pedals for bass are my Empress Compressor and Darkglass Vintage Microtubes. I also use the EQ on the H9 fairly often now, and may use the H9 or my Neunaber pedals for the rare time that I need to do swells to fill out space. I also obviously use the Polytune when I need to tune.

My other overdrives are pretty much not used because they suck low end pretty bad. I'm experimenting with the Crushstation algorithm on my H9 for really heavy tones which I will rarely if ever use, but will be fun to have.
