I've been a passive reader of these posts for a while now, and I'm curious... I don't use any effects other than compression and (in a function band) for a synthy tone, an octave pedal... would I be ousted for not having a "worship" tone? I'm a lot older than most of you I suspect, but man, I miss the old Integrity Hosanna days with Abe Laboriel, Craig Nelson and Don Harris... clean, warm and sooooooooo musical...
I dunno... P&W to me, has become a "business" all unto itself. And yes, I am fully aware I'll be shot down in flames for my utter heresy, but man, it's become an industry... anyway... bless you all... some very tasty pedalboards (and yes, I used to have a monster board not too long ago)
It was an industry then, too, just not as big as it has grown into today. I don't miss the H/I/V music scene, but I know plenty of people who do. And that's fine. Ultimately, it's a question of what you do with the music, not which stream you draw from or the way in which you play it. Just as in the pop world, there's always been good P&W music and ... let's just say not so good P&W music. That's true theologically and musically. And we'll differ on which music fits where in that spectrum.
As for tone, I have my own, and plenty of people here do. You said you've been reading for a while; maybe you should review the uploaded photos. At least recently, there aren't as many as I'd hoped, but there are some over time. And what's on them doesn't always include synths (or octaves). Mine is among those that don't and nobody has cast any stones my way.
Finally, don't judge lest ye be judged, etc. I've yet to see anyone shot down in flames. I have seen respectful discussion and love.
