Always on is cali76, Broughton high pass, preamp of some sort, condor, and deco
The Condor looks pretty cool. And the Deco. And..well, I bet that whole rig sounds great.

Always on is cali76, Broughton high pass, preamp of some sort, condor, and deco
I end up using the C4 with a setting I made (just published) called "Deep Source 8ve". I took someone's deep source and then changed the octaves down in favor of one octave up on a saw.Always on: GXLD16+ in dual mode with always on tuner, Empress Bass Comp, Oracle preamp/DI
Often used: Doom2
Sometimes used: Octabvre, HX Stomp (afraid I'm mainly using for delay/reverb)
Rarely used: C4 - I love this pedal and wish I could use it more - doesn't really fit into the songs we're currently doing
... what are your 'always on' pedals? Mine would be the preamp, and I'm still deciding if I want to leave the compressor in the chain. Last week, I took it out, but now that it's back in, I'm liking it.
I'd love to be able to double down on keys/synth. I'm curious what some entry level keys that can do that sort of thing would be just to start fiddling and practicing...Some personal testimony..... I dumped our cable TV two weeks ago - and have replaced that time with watching Bethel and Elevation worship videos and am really noticing a LOT of sub octave synth, bass octavers, and generous amounts of creamy smooth soaring bass saturation on big sections. Almost no modulation effects.
I'm also noticing how all their arrangements are just perfect and everyone (congregation included) is connected together so well. They go from light delicate to full-on arena sub-synth wall of sound with everyone on the same page. The dynamic range reminds me of the Genesis concerts I attended as a youth. And every bass player I watch seems to be gifted, super tasteful, awesome fills, but not flashy. I'm humbled by it all and it makes me want to really work on this stuff and be a better musical servant.
Calling MikoFX: Where is all that sub synth coming from in those live videos? The bass player? Keys? Moog Sub Phatty? Some mystery pedal I've not stumbled upon? Something else? The EHX Bass Micro Synth used to be "the thing" but I'm not so sure it is anymore? I talked to my worship leader for this Sunday about it (a total pedal geek), who is quite encouraging of my emerging pedal explorations, and he mentioned the Moog Phatty.

Aside from 'always on' pedals like comp and saturation, etc, what effect does everyone use the most?
At first thought, I was going to say overdrive, but I actually think it is octave. I use it a lot for synth type stuff. It may also have to do with the fact that I really like the Octabvre, but haven't found an overdrive that makes me want to use it when the song isn't heavily overdriven. Last would be chorus, but I have been using it with the octave with some nice results.
Actually, another question just popped in my head....what are your 'always on' pedals? Mine would be the preamp, and I'm still deciding if I want to leave the compressor in the chain. Last week, I took it out, but now that it's back in, I'm liking it.
Sounds good -- I'm planning to use the HX's Octave (clean) for the introduction ambient deep parts. Then go back to the Octave + Rat for the final choruses with the big chord hits. We have a dozen 18" JBL subs that I can light up.As cool as it would be to have a Moog, on the 'Names' video, I would use an octave + fuzz (or OD etc) + Freeze pedal to sustain the note.
Short answer is all of the above.Calling MikoFX: Where is all that sub synth coming from in those live videos? The bass player? Keys? Moog Sub Phatty? Some mystery pedal I've not stumbled upon? It's evolved over the years and it varies from week to week, team to team. The bass itself is effected in those big moments with at least Octave and drive (modified Rat & Aguilar TH AGS), and in many cases fuzz & filter too. As you said, the BMS was big for a while, but more and more I think those sounds are Helix patch driven. If you watch the Livestream you may notice that at times there are two keys players on the platform at the same time. In those instances one is typically playing piano and the other is doing the atmospheric stuff & synth lines.
Personally I love the Moog Sub37, although the Novation Bass Station II is a VERY good entry point. I also like the stuff Behringer has been coming out with. The Moog clones are solid & I have an intense love for the Deepmind 12.
Great info. Do you think the Sub25 is too small?
I watched a couple of YouTube videos of David demo'ing his Phatty. Interesting.I went and saw Brandon Lake this past weekend and noticed that David Curran was playing a Moog Sub Phatty in addition to his bass.
