Guys, tried looking through old threads....how many mA does the ToneHammer draw? Can I just use a single, 18v plug in the Cioks DC7? Thanks, again!

I'm a fool. Skimmed this thing several times.... But I also can't find something in the fridge, even when it's right in front of me. My MO has struck again.
I have an MBD3 but haven't had a chance to use it at church yet (I'm the worship coordinator, was meant to play bass last weekend but some musicians pulled out so I ended up on guitar and keys instead) but definitely planning to give it a go! It can do very subtle thickening all the way to full on distortion so you should be able to get whatever vibe you're looking for from it! It's turning into my favourite drive pedal and has pushed pretty much all my Darkglass off my board!
I have heard a lot of great things about the MBD (not sure which version). They seem to consistently be one of the top pedals suggested in 'best overdrive' threads. I would probably have one if not for the name. But, that's just my personal feeling. I am pretty happy with the Grizzly but I'm also on the search for another overdrive that is more open and loose. I was hoping to find one pedal that would cover all my OD needs, so the Grizzly was off my board for a bit. But, now that I'm approaching it from a 2 drive perspective, I think I will find the right sounds eventually...and the Grizzly may be making a comeback.
HX Stomp Worship Users: Has anyone tried these Tone Factor HX presets for the Bethel tones? How are they getting the micro synth sounds?

I have & do periodically, but found I preferred the MBD-2 (which is what I use now when I use it) for a few reasons. I use it for lower gain drive, but the boost switch on the MBD even on its lowest setting gave too much of a volume leap & pushed the drive to too high of a gain setting. I find the blend control on the MBD-2 more to my liking as well, as the LPF on the MBD is contoured in such a way that it seems to change my core tone more than I'd like a drive pedal to (If it were for a Post Rock/Metal gig & it was being used as a core tone it would be great). Also, the larger foot print was a sticking point, especially as I found the boost switch unusable.
Shameless plug, I have two MBD-2s listed in the classifieds at a great price. I own three, and am keeping at least one. (This absolutely did not influence my above thoughts... I truly prefer the MBD-2 over the MBD for the stated reasons. There's a reason I have three of them. lol)
Also have a bunch of other great gear listed at very good prices in multiple listings (Can anyone say Khan?). Family comes first so I am eliminating a complete board build & downsizing elsewhere to help take care of some things that just came up.

In addition to the MBD, I'm also considering the Lusithand Ground & Pound for my worship overdrive. Anyone rocking that one at church?
I've tried that one as well, and found it more suited to my Post Rock/Prog projects. It's pretty high gain & does clank well.
What sound are you going for & what artists are you covering? Maybe we can make some recommendations on what we like to use to achieve those sounds.
I really like the Grizzly for stuff like 'Goodness of God' in the bridge ("Your goodness is running after me.") It's a tight sounding overdrive and it builds the song and retains the low end nicely. But, it can be used in a way that's not too overdriven. I'm not sure if the original is overdriven, but I like to throw it on there.

Yes, it is & I 100% agree with your thoughts on the Grizzly. It's great for that sound.
Brice is now using a DCX in OD mode for those tones.
Sounds good. The way I did it was to split the signal and path b was the octave with clean and path a was the clawthorn with heavy fuzz/od and the octave mixed in. It was "ok" but not sure how he is doing it.
I like the well-known Bethel bass overdrive sound, but I don't want mine to be quite that extreme. I've owned a Tone Hammer before. It was great, but not quite what I want (it's more of a preamp than a standalone overdrive). I've been using the Free the Tone "Bass Blaster" BB-2 for a few years now. It's a beautiful overdrive sound, but slightly too transparent and subtle for where my tastes have evolved. These are the overdrives I've owned and tried before:

The Grizzly and MBD-2 (or new MBD) are the ones I've considered revisiting again. It's been a few years since I've had those, and my tastes have changed since then.
I would revisit the Grizzly & consider an Origin DCX Bass. They will both get you in the general ballpark on their own, but if you can swing both of them the Grizzly into the DCX (I like to boost into the DCX so it's right on the edge of break up & breaks up when you dig in or play with a pick) may nail the sound you're looking to achieve.
If someone hasn't already mentioned this - FatBassTone is one of their US dealers and I got one from them last week. Super fast shipping - and the price was actually less than what I had seen some of the used ones going for. Nice folks to deal with too....
