for that matter . . . favorite Christian Musician/Vocalist - Bryan Duncan - if you have NOT heard him DO!
Basses & Worship rig: Carvin LB75P, Fender P-J, Fender Jazz (fretless), Hartke 3500 & Hartke VX 410, occasional pedals.

I am on a rotation with two other bassists. I like all types of worship music but love most to play (Jazz basses) in the second Sunday morning service, in which our Pastor wants the music "long, lively and loud".

Playin' for the KING !

I play at the Chapel in Barrington, IL., right down the road from Willow Creek.

I mostly play my newly acquired Fender American Deluxe P-Bass, but also use my Hamer Cruise and my Warmoth fretless for the slower stuff.

We play a lot of great stuff by Delirious, Lincoln Brewster, Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, David Crowder you name it we play it.

Favorite upbeat is:

I can't speak for all "religious people" but i'm "sporting" my religion because it is something i'm passionate about. It has changed my life profoundly and I hope that my "sporting" will make others think about their faith.

With respect I'd rather you didn't post about you're passion for religion in the Basses section; rather you should use this thread to post about you passion/worship for basses - granted you'll have a wee problem with the second commandment there!

I was serious when I said you should contact TB and ask for your own forum. I think that could be an appropriate place for you to post.

You should remember your passion for religion/faith is not everybody's and while you are due respect for your views, you should respect other folks views too. I personally come to TB to talk all things bass and I discuss my faith elsewhere, in what I feel are the appropriate places.

What is it they say about discussing religion and politics and folk you don't know?:D

(Can you tell that I'm a Presbyterian?!!:D)

*You can probably ignore much of the above as after I hit the post button I discovered that the original thread has been moved to a more appropriate location.

i MD at my church, and am on the roster as a drunmer, bassist and guitarist between the sundays and fridays... so i generally play at least 3 times a month in some capacity.

I just play a humble Squier Jazz DI'ed and cant wait to get an active bass. (ply it passive in soundcheck :ninja: )

id probably have to say my favorite song to play at the moment is Hosanna of the latest hillsong release, savior king.
anything that as a decentgroove, interesting (ish) chords and enough freedom o rock out, as in parts that dont hinge on specific bass lines. im always sporting for the occassional #5dim7 passing chord in a I-V-VI-IV progression.... can i hear an amen?!?!? :hiding:

He asked a question and i answered it. I feel that i did so in a respectful way. I didn't push my views on anyone. I just simply told him how i feel. The fact that this thread was started regarding worship bass playing it find it hard to post without referencing my faith.

Lastly, my faith permeates my whole life. I try not to compartmentalize and have secular segments and Christian segment. I realize that sometime it is absolutely necessary. In this case however i don't think that is the case.

That being said, i respect your perspective and will refrain from further comment on the topic. Thank you for the respectdul manner of your post.

I'm cool with that - shame you're in OH, as you sound like the sort of bloke that would be great to chat to - about all things, not just religion!

I like folk that commit and aren't wishy washy!

Grace Church in Molalla, OR...

Epiphone Viola Bass and ZZ Ryder Lo Ryder bass (Until my Birdsong gets here... after I order it, of course)

Favorite song? Have only been playing at church for a few months (Only playing Bass since Nov) but Forever by Chris Tomlin comes to mind...
