Worship Bassists Unite

Awesome thread guys! My setup is a Warwick Corvette Standard 4-string or Squier Vintage Modified P-Bass through a Hartke 2500 head and Gallien-Krueger 2x10 and 1x15 cabs.

As far as favorite tunes to play, I really dig the ones that we stretch out on a bit, two by David Crowder Band especially. On "Obsession" from the Can You Hear Us? album we do an extended jam at the end, and on "Come Thou Fount" from one of the Passion worship band albums we do an arrangement that I came up with where we shift from 3/4 to 4/4 at the end of the tune then repeat the first verse and chorus while our singer goes a little nuts. I love it, there's nothing better than using our talents to rock out for the Lord!!!

Hey fellow worship bassists...

Been playin' bass in churches for almost 10 years now. When I was younger, there was NO demand for bass players in most churches. I am glad times have changed; I never really made headway playin rock and roll, or whatever, but never was passionate about playin bars, dances and stuff anyhow.
I played with a Christian band for a few years, but playing bass in church and for a music ministry choir is where it's at for me. God has blessed me and allowed me to play in several different churches and venues- sometimes on an "on call" basis and other times as a regularly scheduled musician.
There have been times where I have played "outside" myself and couldn't explain what or how I played certain passages.
Through the bass, I have also learned to appreciate different Christian fellowships than just the denomination I belong to.
I love most anything from Prestonwood and Brooklyn Tabernacle ministries.
I read well and wish sometimes for bass parts that are notated, but chord charts challenge your own "feel" and ears to create lines through God-given abilities.
I doubt anyone cares what gear I use, but if anyone asks, I'll let you know.
