Worst band name you have ever heard.

Australian band - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Great band and worth a listen. I like the Flying Microtonal Banana album especially. Subtitled Explorations into Microtonal Tuning, Volume 1, the album is recorded in quarter tone tuning, where an octave is divided into 24 (logarithmically) equal-distanced quarter tones; it was originally conceived to play on a baglama, so the band members used instruments specifically modified for microtonal tuning. The name "Flying Microtonal Banana" comes from Stu Mackenzie's custom-built yellow guitar, fitted with additional microtonal frets.

Went to a farm party about 30 years ago. The crowd was slightly younger than us. A mediocre band called Scorcher was playing. We heard several people say "Scorcher Rules!"
3 decades later we still break out laughing when one of us say Scorcher Rules.

TL;DR - - My band has morphed through three names since I joined up, none of which *I* voted for. Sadly.

#1 Medicine. Our rhythm guitar, the guy who invited me in, called this one. He and I have known each other since 4th grade. He's part Native American, and thought it was "heap big medicine" (HIS words) that we were finally in a band together. :bored:

#2 FunHouse. We had to ditch Medicine per our drummer, who had a loved one with substance abuse issues. I got that part, but still! I kept threatening to show up with a red clown bulb nose and big floppy shoes....

#3 Chalkboard Monkeys. Seriously?! :banghead: We are all educators/former educators/ed admin survivors. This one I kinda get, but still. Monkeys? Just, no. :rollno:

Before I joined, they were going by "The Ball Street Boys" for a while. Glad I wasn't around for THAT one. :woot:

What's a bass player to do?

seems to me the worth of the name depends on the level of band success. There's nothing magical about The Beatles (a misspelling, for chrissakes), The Who, Yes, Cream, Grateful Dead, etc, etc, except that each of them achieved worldwide fame. If those bands had been duds, we'd be talking about how stupid their names were.

World wide fame doesn't stop a band name from being stupid by any means, IMO. ;)
