Worst band name you have ever heard.

there was an Australian band in the 1990's called "the Hard Ons" and in NZ there was a covers band called The Trojans (Trojan is a brand of condoms) and another band called the Band With no Name - very original that!
and there was a short lived band called "Der Noil" - there is a brand of beer in NZ called Lion Red and Der Noil is simply Lion Red spelt backwards

Rosebud. A 5 piece all guy country band.

Anytime I join a band I want to do two things.
1. Confirm there's not another band with the same, or even similar name in the area.
2. Make sure there isn't any weird slang connotation that could come back to haunt a band. This one wasn't good.

I auditioned and was told the name of the band was non negotiable. After I told them I checked it out and that it was Gay slang for what should be an exit, they said they didn't care. I couldn't see myself playing in a band with that name. I walked.

Goregrind band called Cock and Ball Torture. The goregrind genre and all of its offshoots have some of the worst names ever. Also, any stoner metal band that rips off of Acid King/Bongzilla/Electric Wizard... those bands tend to have some really stupid names. Same with the d-beat scene and every band starting with “Dis”

I used to play with a drummer (of course) who was in a band called, ready? Mass Eruption!:roflmao: (Mass was the old abbreviation for Massachusetts), I laugh every time I think of it. Anytime I'm in a new band situation and we start tossing around names I pull it just to get a reaction and it gets plenty. Got any really bad band names that can rival that one? I shudder as I await your bad names.

My all time favorite was from an old episode of WKRP in Cincinnati abut a punk rock band called “The Scum of the Earth”...

+1 on Car Seat Headrest. That's the freakin' worst.

Honorable mentions go to:

My Morning Jacket
SR-71 (very cool plane... very awful name for a band)
Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship
Nerf Herder (or anything taken from the Star Wars, Marvel or DC universes. c'mon, folks... come original... at least try)
Hoobastank
Barenaked Ladies (gee, was "Free Beer" already taken?)
Rise Against (you ACTUALLY named your band that after a band named Rage Against The Machine already existed... really?)

Wow. I’d love to see/hear that!

I was once in a new originals band and when we finally got to the point where we needed a name, the drummer suggested "Postcard Pretense". I asked him what it meant and he had no explanation other than he liked the sound of the name. Needless to say we didn't use the name and while I don't play with this drummer anymore he has never let me forget that I didn't like the name.
