Worst bass for metal? A Danelectro Longhorn would look dumb.
That was my first thought. The tone is wrong, the look is wrong, and the ergonomics are wrong.
I did see one band in the bay area try this. He thought it would be amusing.
I wish we could have played with the Femmes!! That would have been awesome.
Although, I kinda stopped following them after Guy Hoffman joined. I couldn't stand that guy.
This inspired me to dig up a pic of myself (circa 1975)... the ‘Metal-hair’ was there... was told Tuba was cool... it wasn’t... so I got a RIC- the following year... I could, then, play proper Metal- which I proceeded to do!

Yes....... hence why this was under bass humor not basses. With a good amp and eq you can make a hofner sound gnarly, growly, etc. This whole thread was tongue in cheek as a way of poking fun at the endless parade of "best bass for ________." Apparently my icelandic posthardorenumetal bluegrass wasnt inherently satirical enough to convey this though.....

I sat in with a Marrirachi band in Acupulco a while back and had a chance to play one of those. It wasn’t anywhere near as nice as the one in the picture, but it sounded authentic. It took me a bit to get the plucking thing down, but it was surpringly easy to play.
i'd love to play that ironically in a death metal band!
got any links to their music? that sounds pretty cool!
i must admit it - i'd have trouble playing that one even ironically, but there's no doubt it's the best bass for easter!
