No mellow, it isn't Gerry in that vid. The band recorded that vid after Gerry left the band. If you do some youtubing, you can find vids of that band (playing other songs) that show both that dweeb *AND* Gerry in the vid, so that guy in this vid is not Gerry. It's Joe Egan. Below is a pic of both of them. Joe (with the beard) is on the left. Gerry (the taller guy) is on the right.

Good lord. They don't make them like this anymore. Two guys (one with a cowboy hat and eye patch) stalking a woman all over the city staring at her butt (and singing to it). Wouldn't fly in today's #metoo culture but fascinating to watch from an anthropological standpoint.

I'm really enjoying this thread. It seems most of the video's are from the 80s which makes sense. It was a new media using new technology so everyone was having a crack at it with mixed results.

For me what really separates the bad videos from the terrible ones is the motive behind them. A lot of these videos are low budget with cheesy effects but the bands appear to be having fun and not taking the video process or themselves too seriously (like that wonderful Dr. Hook video).

It crosses into terrible territory when the bands were obviously trying to be serious and earnest about it (Journey - Separate Ways) but failed miserably. A lot of metal and mainstream rock videos seem to be the worst culprits. Those are the train wreck videos I enjoy the most.

Yeah, me too! For the longest time, I (and you, and a bazillion other people) incorrectly thought that guy in the vid was Gerry. I called Joe a "dweeb" because of what I read later about how they stiffed Gerry. That Joe dude is a total flake. Gerry was the real deal. RIP Gerry Rafferty!

Mungo Jerry is one of those bands where I always thought it was the lead singers name (until about a year ago actually).
Just look at the video. Doesn't the guy (Ray Dorset) just look like a Mungo Jerry??

He sure does! In fact, prior to reading your message, I thought his name *WAS* Mungo Jerry! I guess ya learn somethin' every day!
