Worst Neckdive You've Experienced

At the London Bass Guitar show i was fooling around with some fuzz pedals at the Orange amps both and he bass i was playing was a Orange (Les paul shaped) p bass.
The Neckdive of this bass so bad, ether i was holding up or it went straight to the floor.

My D'Angelico Excel bass. It's an absolute tone beast and I'll never get rid of it plus their customer service is top notch. Let go of the neck and it's straight to the floor, the headstock is huge.

I honestly think in the future if I find a bass I really like the sound and feel of that has neck dive issues I’m just gonna go for it. Looking at the strap pin placement on my ng2 and especially on the d-bird has definitely made me think “maybe I could have just moved the darn strap pins”

This is the d-bird their take on a thunderbird View attachment 2992136

View attachment 2992133Check out where the rear strap pin is on the ng2 also. Notice it’s not in the typical location. This was a little odd when I was attaching Wireless pack to the strap. I actually had to move the pack farther down than I’m used to so the cable had plenty of slack.but my ng2 has nice balance for a relatively light 5 string.

Love my Thunderbirds, and neck dive is a small p price to pay. I just always keep my left hand on the neck anytime I'm holding it up. I even move the strap button from the back because just don't like how it lays on the back. I like to keep my slung low and free.

Gibson Ripper. Headstock literally dove toward the floor, and I had to catch it. Ended the love affair spawned by Gene Simmons' Gibson endorsement in 1974. Never tried a Grabber though...
It's like Gibson has been allergic to making basses with a proper upper horn for 70 years. I guess the Victory basses had them, and the newest EB iteration does, but the vast majority - rippers/grabbers, SG/EBs, LPs, Birds, you might get a 15th-fret strap placement if you're lucky. That really sucks for those of us who don't have monkey arms (I valiantly tried to main a Tbird for a little bit and just too far out to the left - I'd love a shorty tho)

I know people say they're all that way but I must have gotten lucky. My 2002 doesn't neck dive at all. To answer the question, it would be my Casady before I put Hipshot Ultralites on it.

Nope, was just about to comment about my old standard Epi bird (which was definitely a diver). However, about 10 years ago there was a small chain here in the north east call "Daddy's junky music". My first and only experience playing an actual Gibson bird was there around that time as well, and I purposely grabbed a strap nearby to see what would happen.. What do you know?! No neck dive!

Anyway, I know some like to believe that all birds must dive. But, I'm certainly right there with the few who believe it isn't every single one ever produced thanks to this experience.
