Would Have Been a Huge Score, Except...

I figured yours was contoured back most are...btw, i pulled the whole muting setup off my bros 65 Newport to get the action lower and save some weight...if you get a chance could you weigh your Newport?

Mine had LaBella flats but i went with GHS Pressurewounds for a bit less tension and a bit of top end zing, i get all the bright attack needed but i do favor a pick a lot. I do like GHS Precision flats i may try them down the road...nice your Newport has some good flats already

Weighs 7 pounds 10 ounces (though feels a little heavier on my left shoulder due to the dive).

I play 80-85 percent of the time with my fingers near the pickup, but just wow when I go to the pick closer to the bridge!

Just get one of these little leather strap things for the headstock and wear a long strap!

Too cool a bass to pass up!
This is the best idea I've seen on this post. It would also be very period correct. Even early Fender had a "hootenany" strap button on the back of the headstock.
