I have the prototype for this bass, and I can tell you this...it's a BARGAIN at $1500.

Yep. I just listed mine here...can't get the 5 string feel down. I'm a 4 at heart!
Hard to wrap the mind around that price point once they've established themselves as a "budget brand" - sorta removes the cool factor for me, I'd rather buy a big boy bass for that moneyjust my opinion, of course.
Well, kind of my initial thought as well but after a month of testing and contemplating the ‘big boy basses’ I just had to face the facts that my Sire V7 and V3-5 is of a much higher quality and gives me more satisfaction when picking them up than any of the new Fender lines (CS not included). Of course my old vintage Fenders are something else but it’s really not fair to make that comparison.
But compared to a new, out of the box American Fender, there really wasn’t anything that could justify me getting a Fender so I decided on a Sire V10 instead. Sure, it costs more than the first Sire models but the price point for what you get is still really good. I'll hardly get the entry level American Fender for that kind of money and honestly, how much should you have to pay for the name and the country if origin? The Fenders in that price range feels like Squiers to me, maybe with slightly better hardware and pickups (or maybe not), but for just the feel in my hands, the fretwork, the nut, the finish and wood quality the Sires just blows the Fenders away IMHO.
I may live to regret these statements but at least that’s my honest opinion today.
I agree though that the MM logo on the headstock is not the most tasteful and nice looking detail I’ve seen. They should have kept the signature on the back of the headstock. But I can live with that if it sounds and feels good.

I’ve had a few Sire V7 and VV7 basses and parted company to buy US Fenders. The Sires where better built and sounded just as good as the Fenders IMHO. I like the Fenders for the badge as much as anything. I’ve just bought a new Sire V7 Gen 2 in burgundy. Not arrived yet. I’m selling a US EBMM Stingray to fund it. After many years of trying to love Stingrays I’ve decided I don’t!
I too once owned a stable of EBMM SR5 basses (9 in total). I have since sold off all of them from 2007 until 2 years agoi, and have gone all Sire. I am loving my V10 as shown in my avatar.
That’s not a review that’s a complaint. I don’t want a 5lb bass . His personal issues about makes me question why anyone would purchase a bass they don’t like . When I got my 1st Warwick it was little heavy but the tone and playability is excellent so I’m not gonna complain bout weight . This V10 with roasted neck is best bass sire has made till this point . Roasted neck means lighter weight
