Strange thread... Seems to me that the internal 10s aren't going to see a huge difference in power output whether they are getting 100% of the amp output at 8 ohms with no external or 50% of the amp output at 4 ohms with an external cab. Yeah, sure the drivers in the 4x10 are individually going to see less watts each than the 2*, but so long as the 2*10s are within their safety zone why is it an issue? One thing for sure, the internals'll get pretty much the same power whether the external speaker is an 8 ohm 1*8 or an 8 ohm 8*10.

Yeah... I think since I had my bass in drop D, the Scrambler/overdrive circuit engaged, and aggressively using a pick... it was too much for the amp to handle. Since then, I have had the amp at the same volume level (just under 5), and no issues. I think I just need to be mindful of all the variables involved.
