ok, very likely you don't exceed more than 1/4 average of the amp power.
Something must have been wrong with this amp in particular that went into protection mode.
It may also be that someting is wrong with your cabinatry. Different amps react different on failure modes.

My cabinetry? I've not mentioned my cabs. I really think you're confusing me with someone else or maybe had a really good weekend even though Oktoberfest is over.

So you ran the Ampeg BA210 combo with the Rumble 410 cab?

What do you mean that you had the “Rumble 500 head with the BA210, sounded phenomenal”? I guess I’m confused since those are both “amps”, sounding like you used the two together. Are you saying the BA210 and Rumble 410 sounded great together... with no issues? I really appreciate your post!

Thanks lizardking837. It gets an awesome tone and it shakes the room. From what I have been told from fellow TBers, I probably shouldn't be pairing these two. I guess the 210 combo is getting pushed too much when I start to turn it up. I had a (brief 1 second)"cutout" happen to the combo once or twice when I had the amp at 5 and was playing a bit on the aggressive side. I had the overdrive circuit on and was using a pick... AND the E was dropped to D. I think all these things contributed to the "cutout". I will probably end up keeping the amp away from 5 (at least when I am using the overdrive circuit, playing in drop D, using a pick, or all 3 together!)

I disconnected the BA amp from the speakers (remove one of the side grills and you see a two pin connector. The BA just becomes a 2-10 ext cab

Well you certainly didn’t over power your stack as the BA210 V2 is rated at 450 watts into 4 ohms only and 283 watts @ 8 ohms. (Ampeg manuals are available online at the Ampeg site.) So you may have asked more of it than it’s capable of. By the way, I’ll have my BA 110 V2 going on 5 years soon, have used it every day and have never had a single issue with it.

Cool! So did you stack the R410 on top of the Ampeg combo. Obviously, the R500 head cannot run directly into the Ampeg since it only has 1 output/input port. Or did you keep the Ampeg combo on top and connect the speaker cable from the R500 head to the R410 first and then patch that up to the combo?

went into the 410 first then the 210. The 210 was stacked on the 410
