Thanks for the post, Krizz. I guess it comes down to playing it “smart” when using the combination we are using. So, I guess we would get the same “cut out” if we were pushing the combo by itself?View attachment 3607319
I'm running a BA210 V2 with a rumble 115, I'm only playing finger style, but I've had it cut out momentarily a couple times, when, as JRA said, I'm playing exuberantly. Hasn't seemed to cause any problems, and it's a good reminder that finesse is something I need to work on, along with pretty much everything else
I guess the rule of thumb here (for my situation) is to keep the combo under 5 and be mindful of my picking/plucking attack.

From what I remember when I was playing just the combo, trying to keep up volumewise with the guitarists, it wasn't cutting out, but did get really farty. Adding the 115, I was able to dial down the volume on the amp from almost 9 to between 4-5, and be heard much more clearly, and be able to make much more subtle adjustments with the volume controls on my basses, which I rarely run wide open. But yeah, playing smart with the volume controls is never a bad thing

Once you reach the practical limitations of an amp, what you experienced is not uncommon.

A 115 210 pairing has been said by some to be a decent power handling pairing. Folks asking about a 410 115 pairing are often guided to a 210 115 instead. If you’ve got the 115, and it is also 8 Ohms, you could give it a try.
hate to state overly obvious stuff ,... but ... make sure you're using a Speaker cable , not a shielded Signal type cable to run the ext cab ...

The "cutting out" is the amp saying that it is working too hard and protecting itself. Turn down. There is nothing wrong with the cab you're using, it's a 8 ohm load are is the internal speakers. More risk in damaging the 2 10's than the the 4 10's - all thing being equal, but I don't know that for certain, I'll just assume the speakers are roughly comparable.
So if I comprehent the meaning of your words correctly you would not suggest to use the 210 combo without an extension cab connected nothing at all?
I think without an extension cab the drivers in the combo would very likely be pushed even harder versus running the como with an extension cab connected.
The amp isn't robust enough to be pushed hard with a 4 ohm load. It protects itself to "limit" warranty issues. I'm not poo poo-ing the amp, just realize that there are limits to what it can realistically do.
You should never run any amp above 50% volume IMHO.
Have fun with your amp but pay attention when it is cutting out on you. Something is hitting it's limit.

yes, but probably not as 'soon'. the amp sees the 8 ohm, 2x10 as "a little easier on me" and more of "what i was really designed to do."
use both cabs, have fun, just don't push the system hard enough (+volume, +deep lows) to cause the protection to kick in. if you want real low stuff = lower the volume a bit. there are always trade-offs: no matter the rig/system. good luck!
