Wrapped my bass

So I decided to get my bass wrapped and being a bit of a Batman Fanboy especially The Killing Joke, there could only be one image for the wrap. The bass was originally a 1989 Ibanez SR800LE but had been modded with EMGX pups and a custom pick guard before I bought it.

The wrap is just the front of the bass and the back is still gloss black along with the headstock and neck.

I appreciate it might not be to everyone's taste but then life would be boring if we all liked the same thing. The wrap is also very easy to take off if I ever sold it.

Excuse the wallpaper but we rent and the landlord likes it........very 80's and don't tell him that I've drilled holes in the wall for guitar mounts.

It F'ing great!

Always wondered why more don't use wraps, but I guess it depends on competition and pricing?

That is awesome! I really like it.

Any change in tone & sustain ?

I currently have 5 wrapped basses and can't hear any difference in any of them.
In the last picture of 3 basses only the middle one is original.

Nice! I think the end result looks fantastic.

Long before wrapping was a thing, I would occasionally use vinyl tape to "enhance" the look of my basses. Here's my '61 Jazz Bass in an American Flag theme from a photo from the early 80's:

I've since done a few pickguards through the years on one of my son's basses. Not nearly has clean as a wrap, but it did the job.

Sorry, not to derail thread, but I'm starting a 5 string med scale P/J project soon, what pickups are you using?

They are EMG X pickups running at 18v(two batteries) into neck volume, bridge volume, tone and master volume. I didn’t mod it, it was done before I got it but the pots look like they are all EMG as well as they all have solderless compatible connectors. I will update the controls at some point to pickup blend, master volume and some sort of fancier EQ split over two pots.

It wasn't hard to apply, just be sure the surface is clean, free of any specks of anything that might cause a small lump or air bubble. and use a SHARP, new XActo hobby knife blade to trim it around the edges.
Never seen both the front and back done.

Such a cool idea.
Remember Fender's photo flame?
The price of AAAAA flamed / quilted maple just dropped!
And where to hide the hamburglar....
Can't be too long before guitar/bass wraps will be made for stock Fenders with your choice of art.
