Never understood the old tradition of giving watches as retirement presents. I still and probably always will wear a watch though. I have since my dad started me wearing one in kindergarten. I’ll be 60 in July. Retirement still a ways off with a younger wife and our only child just turning 12 last month.

I'm a righty but I also wear my watch on my right wrist. Always have. Mostly because of tattoos, but even before that I wore it on my dominant hand. Anyone else do this? Any idea why? I still take it off to play. Messes up my technique.

I have the dumbest watch ever. Citizen. Pretty nice. It's all black. It's solar powered. And it doesnt glow in the dark. I dont spend my whole life outdoors, so it has stopped a few times. At night I can't read it. Black (anodizing?) does not hold up well to wear. My cool blacked out watch is dumb as heck.

My dad always wore his watch 'underhanded' when I was a kid in the 60's & 70's, so I did too back then, until high school. Never thought twice about it.

I used to love having some nice chronographs, some expensive ones, too. But like many of us, I stopped wearing watches many years ago. I don't care for any jewelry other than my wedding band that my wife makes me wear.

I actually prefer to wear my watch on the outside...and pointedly looking at it to indicate people are wasting my time, or boring me, or late.
Life's too short to be nice to people who don't deserve it.

Funny you should mention that. I despise people wasting my time. I don't wear a watch. But if they are really annoying me, I'll look at my wrist anyway and say "Man, I'm late for a thing. Lemme call you later. I gotta roll. GOOD TO SEE YOU!"

I was kind of expecting something along the lines of "here's how you can use your watch in a survival situation", or some sarcastic sort of "did you know that you can use a watch to avoid being late you dummy?" Kind of post.

Granted, wearing a watch like that is a good way to make checking the time less conspicuous. Still noticeable, but less blatant I guess.
