Wrong bridge width

I have a new Squier Tele with a two-piece bridge rather than four individual adjusting posts, so I thought I'd change it. Ordered a new P-Bass bridge and realized that the new bridge was wider than the one on the Tele. This would have moved the strings to the very edge of the fingerboard.

Can you get bridges with different string spacing? How do you measure?

Gran yourself one of the threaded barrel bridges and you're good.

There are several bridges with adjustable spacing. Examples incl Gotoh Roller, Schaller 2000, Kahler Fixed (meaning no whammy bar).

There are also multiple ways people measure string spacing. Center of one string to the center of the next string; space between the edges of two strings; and overall spread distance from the highest string to the lowest. Center-to-center is "most proper" IMO, but it's not universally what you'll see on website specs.

A vintage type bridge with threaded saddles is the best way to go in this situation.

Try a Schaller bass bridge.
